Thanks Alex....believe it or not, it is the quiet brace.  I am going to go back and paint it an appropriate concrete street gray.  I had originally planned to cover the streets in foamcore or rubber pool liner material (used the pool liner in the past and it looks just like black top)....but, I liked the worn look of the quiet brace surface so the downtown streets will get the color treatment as I said above and I think they will look just fine.

This MTH SW-8 was the first loco I bought upon re-entering the hobby about ten years ago. As I figured out what I wanted to focus on, the roadname (Chicago NorthWestern) wasn't gonna fit, so I repainted it about 5 years ago, but wasn't ever really pleased with it. So, I decided to give it another paint job, and it is now lettered for my fictional "Liberty Belt Railway". I also painted up a caboose to go with it. Definitely not the quality of some of the experts around this forum, but it's growing on me.

This diorama is not for my train layout and is  h o scale because of cost, space and availablity of structures and figures.

My next project is the western movie set ranch scene.

In O scale the cattle are pretty easy to find - Walthers, Preiser  and Life Like are good places to start. The mounted cowboys will be more difficult.

You can search here --> http://www.erichotz.com/miniatures1.html

The 32mm and 35 mm would be appropriate for O scale.

If I come across any, will e-mail you the info
