A little late, but nevertheless -
My 'new' B&M 217 Alcos were waiting for me when I got home today!
I've always wanted these, but had never seen a clean decent looking example in my price range, until this past week
A 3483 also showed up as well
Here's our 'Goodwill find' from yesterday all cleaned up
American Flyer 1940 set No 4300 (thanks Carl)
Thought I would insert it here after Scott's handsome streamliners!
WIll probably post these for sale soon as they really don't fit with our other trains.
Any interesting trades?
Patrick-- Looks Super I have some things for you you might be able to use. I keep putting them in a box. Next time I stop over I will bring it.
I think Patrick got that at York a few shows ago.
Patrick where did you get the Amish buggy? I need 4 of them. Thanks for any help.
Try a search here first ,if no good then post a topic in the scenery forum, I threw the box out and cant remember their name. However their was a guy who posted here who had alot nicer ones than the one i have. It even had reflectors on back of them.

The wife and I had the pleasure to attend Family Day with my son Jason at the Tennessee Air National Guard in Memphis today. Jason is a Load Master. The unit is transitioning over to C 17’s. The unit’s C5A’s are heading for the bone yard at the end of this year. Here a couple of pictures.

Have a good weekend,

Ok, just to keep on tipic here, a train picture is in order. Here is a picture of a CSX train rolling down the tracks down the road form the house.
Went to Fullerton Railroad Days today. Unlike last year, I did the smart thing and took Metrolink which stops right at the Fullerton Depot were the event took place. Last year, it took an hour and change to drive there and about an hour to find a place to park and walk to the event. This time, the train trip took about two hours, including wait time at the transfer point, but was cheaper than the gas and a lot less of a hassle.
I transferred from the San Bernardino-to-Oceanside train at the Orange Depot. The old Santa Fe Depot has been restored and re-purposed as Ruby's Grill. I like seeing that because it allows the depots to live on.
Arrived at the Fullerton Depot around 9:30. Jeff Waldmen and Dave O'Connor arrived about 45 minutes later from LA via Amtrak.
There were several modular groups operating, representing everything from Z to G
There was also a Lego layout, which is always impressive.
TTOS Southwestern had their layout up.
There was also a kid-operated H.O. layout that was nicely done.
BNSF had their interactive signal trailer on site.
They also brought one of their "pipe-layer" Cats which they use to re-rail errant equipment. Die Cast Direct does sell them for those of you who might want to put a re-rail scene on the layout.
USA Trains had an Outdoor setup running.
Disneyland had #4 out, fresh from a recent rebuild. Jeff Remy was there, so Jeff Waldman and I harassed him a bit.
When I got back to San Bernardino, I happened upon a six-axle Genset. I knew they were out there, but I had never actually seen one. Of course, it might be a figment of my imagination since I don't recognize the road.
First, thanks for the nice comments about this scene. When I show fellow model railroaders photos of this part of the layout, I always get many questions regarding the house. Even the three rail guys don't recognize the house. This is a stock superdetailed Lionel house which I believe was cataloged in 2010. I build it up on a cinderblock foundation, and put it on a realistically graded lot. It is VERY typical of 1950's Pennsylvania house construction.
The Lionel stock number is 6-37917. The original version from a few years earlier was pretty toy like, but this version has mortar lines, awnings, gutters, downspouts, hedges, and much more. Production model has green awnings, not red as shown in the photo. I think Harry Heikle (spelling?) was the inspiration for this model.
They are hard to find now...Trainworld had one for sale at York but it went fast. They have a white version which is nice, but not as typical as the red one, so not as convincing in my opinion. There is also a version with Christmas lights. I'd like to see them do more of their Lionelville structures like this.
Just received......Not Bad for 192.00 Shipped! The Lionel Santa Fe Alco Freight set #38342 from the Conventional Classic Series.
Hey Mark,
I just got one of these, too! At a very good price although I have to say not quite as good as you did.
Really enjoying this freight set.
Hmmmmmmm....almost like I used you photo for my recent repaints on my WbB units!!!
Matt......is that the same Fullerton that Amtrak Chief uses??? Seems different to me???
Photo from my stop at Fullerton.......

edit: after looking at both pics I think it's just opposite ends of the station????
My favorite Fullerton photo....cool May day....last day in CA.....
I guess it counts as "weekend photo fun," but I started using the Yard Chief software to inventory my collection. I do like the feature that lets one add a photo. So, here are three F units I photographed today as part of the project. The C&NW unit was once a "Preamble Express." It became C&NW back in the 1980's. The prototype "Preamble Express" was painted back into owner UP's armour yellow.
Patrick where did you get the Amish buggy? I need 4 of them. Thanks for any help.

Frank thanks for the info. That's exactly what I'm looking for.
Hello Everyone,
I just completed a couple of vessel for a refinery in Toledo. The models are in G-scale.
The shorter one is a reactor and the other is a distillation tower

No. My first stop (the first photo) was the Orange Depot off Chapman in the City of Orange. I was on my way to Fullerton via Metrolink and had to transfer to another train. Fullerton is one busy station -- Amtrak and Metrolink stop there frequently throughout the day, plus freights blast through there in between. I went down there one Saturday evening a few years ago and ran into a bunch of train watchers who catalog locomotive consists, times, etc. of passing freights.
Cincinnati's Union Terminal and museum has all types of model and toy trains displayed and exhibited inside.
There is The Bob Hopper research library of sorts in Tower A where I found this Buddy L gauge train.
And other assorted sized models. A large S-scale city model depicting various neighborhoods of Cincinnati is in the bus and taxi ramp area of the station. However, I could not get a decent shot.
What I did like was that the Duke Energy Christmas model layout, which once was built by B&O employees is in the museum now. It is normally opened only during the holidays, but our group was allowed in, and the operators put on a great show.
This is 2-rail O gauge with the elevated power line alongside the tracks for pickup via a shoe on the older locomotives. Some newer engines were in the mix, but they didn't seem to have the same charm as the old.
