WEEKEND PHOTO FUN begins now!

Last week I picked up my Weaver N&W Class W from JDS Limited Productions. It now has been upgraded to DCS.

I also finished my repair work on my Interstate RS-3

Since I had already replaced the locomotive with a new one I repaired the damage and changed the number

Interstate had some RS-3's with the orange roofs and some with black. Changing the number to 37 after the repair kept it like the prototype. IMG_1683

Let's see your pictures.

Nice work repair work on the engine Scott! and looking forward to seeing some great photos this week. Always a highlight of the week seeing everyone's hard work and creativity.

Some new MTH trains from the Canadian Toy Train Association special run cars; ( you can click on the images of each special run car for more detail and larger photos)

E&N nice little 36 foot colorful car.

2016: Esquimalt & Nanaimo Woodside Reefer

And a Pacific Great Eastern Caboose.

2015: Pacific Great Eastern steel Caboose

These will add some color to my trains. We have run a few PGE cars now and may do an engine in the future to match. I also custom painted several cars for a nice long train.

It would be nice to do a run of the PGE RS3 that currently is in operational condition at the West Coast Railway Association park.

Our Railway museum hosted the Thomas the Tank engine event over 5 days with several sold out trains.

I brought along a little 12x12 display with lots of trains for the kids to run.  I have 8 sections of fencing made from 2x4 frames with white plastic fence zip strapped to the frames they screw together quickly and are just the right height to keep most little kids out. Had a couple manage to climb the fence with parents reacting in time. Makes for a 16 x 16 frame just enough working room inside the fence. I laid out 2 rolls of 6 foot wide green outdoor carpet and a couple of loops of K-Line Super Snap track around the outside. A 4x5 treed layout made from stacked foam sheets, 4x5 foam board with 4 loops of the 0-27 track, and a couple of more loops of track. Circus theme so added some Lemax carnival rides. The controls are mounted on the fencing for the kids to blow whistles, make things move and the Lion Chief controls are mounted to panels for the control of the trains. They only run in forward and have the sound buttons covered up. (drives you nuts when they get bells on all 7 engines chiming together).

Most all the freight and passenger cars were circus theme. On the outside loop a Williams GG-1 pulling a long string of box cars, K-Line flats and Circus wagons and K-Line passenger/animal cars. 2nd loop had a PA set of Williams Santa Fe engines with matching hopper and caboose, followed by a long string of Lionel 0-27 flats with various Circus wagons attached. Most all the other trains were the Thomas characters pulling Circus and animated cars where possible. All but one of the engine lasted the long days of running burnt one motor out. At the back on the table was a large K'Nex roller coaster that the kids love.

The fence with controls held off the pint sized Thomas fans, most of the day saw 20-40 kids packed around the layout running the trains all very excited.

Click on photos for a larger view, enjoy.

Built by the consortium of ALCo, General Electric and Ingersoll-Rand, the Central Railroad of New Jersey 1000 is generally regarded as the first commercially successful diesel locomotive. Here is MTH's model of this pioneer hard at work in my railroad's freight yard.

I wish MTH would re-issue these. CNW had a couple and I'd like another one. Thinking about changing the color pattern on this one (see the last photo) and redoing the pilots with Kadees and replacement pilot beams.

This hopper - who needs fancy or even many details when you have the eye and the talent? And, even more importantly, just sit down and actually do it. Impressive - partly because the car is just so...MPC with the Allied trucks.

D500. Thank you. I really appreciate your kind words. Now that lightweight car is also little heavier and runs much better, i glued little sand inside the car.

Nuremburg is such a great little town; all those hamlets around it are neat too! I remember when I was about 18, there was a hardware store there with an original Thomas Alva Edison bulb that had been burning since the turn of the century; this was in the 70's!
