It's time for WEEKEND PHOTO FUN!!

Monday afternoon I was driving from Newberry, SC to  home and I passed through Charlotte. I decided to make a stop at Concord Mills and see how the new Lionel Retail Store was looking. IMG_1287

I knocked on the glass when I saw Megan working on the displays.

Megan spoke with Howard Hitchcock and I was allowed to come in and take some pre-opening photos. I have a lot of photos to share this weekend of the store and I think you will agree they have done a great job with their new venture.

Thank you Megan for the preview. I will post some more photos I took later on.

Let's see your pictures

I have the unfortunate news of an attack on the town of Port Royal by Godzilla. According to reports coming in just now, he started with an attack on the local pharmacy:

This was then followed by an attack on a loaded hopper along the mainline tracks of the PRR:

Last reports having him advancing down the tracks towards the borough of Mifflin about 4 miles (or 15 feet on the layout) to the west:

The Pennsylvania National Guard has been called out to protect the citizens of central Pennsylvania! More updates as reports about Godzilla's whereabouts come in!

Happy Friday!!
This weekend marks the unofficial end of Summer. Soon the weather will start to turn brisk & we will find ourselves ready for train season again! (Although for some of us, train season is year round!)

Been doing that tedious task of wiring up track activated accessories this week( fun times!)

Picked up a 1948 vers of the 726 this week. Been on my want list for a while. Also, as you can see in the photo, I swapped out the 115 station for the 132. As much as I LOVED the 115, I felt it blocked the buildings and was just too tall for that spot. I'm not 100% decided though.

Also finished putting up the shelves. Not a ton of wall space, but I figure I'll just rotate what's on display from the closet.

Obviously the opioid crisis isn’t just a human problem

Very interesting pics. Please make every effort to keep Godzilla contained to Central PA - NEPA has enough problems!!!

Not train related:  Our son went off to college and left us his two Australian Bearded Dragons.  We soon learned that one was male and the other female.  Skipping past keeping the eggs warm and feeding the hatchlings with maggots and Gatorade, we ended up with twenty of them.  They are wonderful pets and in spite of the fact that they are desert animals, they loved to swim in the lily pond.

On the subject of collecting (not trains).......

We had an amusement park (now long gone) in Cleveland called Euclid Beach.  It was popular enough to inspire a book called Euclid Beach Park is Closed for the Season.  I met one of the authors who collected (are you ready?) Creches!  He had 500 of them in his family room from ultra miniature to life-sized.

Just as Robert Sherman imagined them!

Lou,

It’s  funny that you said that.  That is the whole basis around my design for this layout!  Early postwar in a realistic setting - similar to those famous diorama studio promo photos.  Seems like I’m on the right track so to speak
