Filmed this old Russian electric still running and delivering miners to work about fifteen years ago. The men got off the train and road in suspended round window cars on cables up to the mines. This was in Georgia. Wish I had all the raw footage now. Kind of a nice old deco train. Don

AMCDave posted:I was traveling this past week....some fun....some not so......
While in Ohio I visited some hobby shops. One had 20% off new and 40% off used items. I found a LGB G scale passenger car for $12!!! No box but looks mint!!
They had a used MTH O scale Amtrak TurboTrain......I said I'll take it....$800 with 40% off..a deal!!! $480!!!
Owner said 'you picked the only item not on sale'.....I could have pushed the issue....but he wasn't having it....oh well.
I also visited a Menard's store. They had a good selection of trains. Sets, lots of box cars and buildings. I found one I did not have and could use. At $70 I passed.....but at $49 and my $11 rebate check in hand.....another DEAL! $38!!
This was all fun and games. But then I got a call from my son....he was hit by a SUV @ 70 mph while sitting in a construction zone in NC. He was badly beat up....but walking. I had to load up....had been home minutes....and go to NC and get them. Blessed they are just hurting....SUV has one in ICU. His Mustang in impound.
Just happy they are still with us. Thanks
Dear Dave
SO HAPPY this had a good ending. Cars can always be replaced...

Very nice Bill!!! Your photo reminds me of Baltimore's Penn Station back in the late 1950s as I visited it in the very early morning hours, before daylight, on a cold Saturday morning. Thanks for the memory!

Coach Joe - That jug band " The Firehouse Five Plus One " does play a lot of gigs in Patsburg. They rehearse on the roof of the firehouse. Funny thing is I just played in a horn section with a bluegrass band on July 4 in Blowing Rock NC .... it was great fun!!!
As it stands the other 3 musicians in Patburg are "Harmonica Harry" who plays 'I've been working on the Railroad" from a Lionel boxcar, a bandonian ( Argentinian accordian ) player who has a gig playing outside Our Lady of Locomotion Church for shotgun wedddings Sister Mary Battleax and her assistant will not allow those kind of weddings to take place indoors. The third musician is a lonely guitar player who plays his guitar while sitting on a rock on the outskirts of Patsburg .... hence " Rock guitar player" Here are two photos of the other musicians .... "Harmonica Harry" does not allow photos of himself and the same with the rock guitar player .... they are such prima dons!!
I've been searching for figurines of musicians in O scale .... jazz musicians, classical musicians, rock bands, but cannot seem to find any. When attending York, I asked Artista about making some, but he was not interested ... he thought there would not be enough demand.... and he's probably right.
I have found some marching bands, which looked cool, however not O scale. Oh well, I'll keep up the hunt.

LOL!
Well this is what I've been working on the past week. Repainting an MTH Royal Hudson to more prototypical livery.
Slowly getting it back together....

Wow Albert that's looking great!
May I ask what you didn't like about the stock MTH engine, and what changes are you making now? Also is that a satin or semi gloss finish on there? Very appropriate for high profile or excursion locomotives and it looks great!
Thank you for the comments! MJ, the MTH Royal Hudson is a great looking and operating piece, right out of the box. However, when side by side with my other CPR locos(3rd Rail and Weaver) the color differences are quite apparent(atleast to me)
I decided on painting the loco as out-shopped in the late 50's service in Western Canada.
I used Black Cat decals and Tamiya paint and gloss coat.
Here is a side by side comparison of the "before" and "after"
