It's midnight and I still haven't gone to bed, so let's kick off Weekend Photo Fun early.

This past week we had Vacation Bible School at my church (Parkway Wesleyan Church in Roanoke) and my son and I set up a couple of tracks and ran trains for the kids every night.

Another week of lots of great photos !

Good to see you sharing the trains with the kids Scott and at the museum shots in past weeks as well.

Always rewarding to share with kids they love it and great way to promote the hobby.

Remember the model train wedding cake??

in past weeks!  And wedding featuring trains link to pics below;

https://ogrforum.com/t...odel-and-real-trains

Take a look if you missed it!

Here is a shot of them cutting the chocolate wedding cake on top of the foam.

And next pic the cake now been cleaning out the icing from the scenery and this is how it might look will need to add a little snow for when we do the Christmas theme model train displays at the museum this winter. Snowy animated mountain will fit well and will need to add a snow transition.

Also Rod Stewart was in town for a concert recently perhaps you have seen some of the articles on him and his love of model trains. Articles say that he builds kits while on tour and stops by hobby shops.

Well the staff were happily surprised when he dropped by the local hobby shop while in town and picked up a few things. He asked anyone coming to my concert the ladies said yes and loved the concert. Here is a pic with him and staff member and the photo of his layout in a past magazine that he signed for staff!

(ooh darn sorry they are sideways not sure why??)

Been a busy Summer for me, but I have been able to sneak some train-related stuff onto my schedule.

Managed to snag the last 3rd Rail 4449 in Freedom Train colors.  All I can say is Wow!

A couple of weekends ago, took a mini vacation to visit with friends in Lancaster County, PA (I stopped at B&E Junction in York on my way there - cool train store!), and we took a Saturday day trip to Baltimore to visit the B&O Railroad Museum:

This was the engine handling the train rides:

I think we need an O gauge model of this car -- I have a feeling that a lot of us could put one to good use checking the clearance on layouts...

And this is the main reason I wanted to visit - this is the first steamer I ever saw in operation.  It is one of the reasons I'm in the hobby today.

And what visit to Baltimore would be complete without a visit to Fort McHenry, especially considering that this year is the 200th anniversary of The Star Spangled Banner...

Have a great weekend Everyone!!

Alan.....

I took this picture a couple of days ago as the sun was rising in the morning and shining through the east facing windows.  It was hitting the layout in such a way that it made some good photos.  This one shows the light reflecting off of the skyscraper in the background as the subway cars on the downtown elevated go by....

Scott,

Looks like your son got some interested kids at the VBS.  I guess one could get a second meaning out of the Bible verse from Proverbs; "Train up a child in the way of the Lord, and when he is old he will not depart from it".  Seriously though, I have seen others set up trains at churches, elderly homes, and hospitals.  Trains can be a good ice breaker to getting to know folks.

Nice shot. Is that your Atlas Code 148 3-rail/2-rail track?

Is that your Atlas Code 148 3-rail/2-rail track?

It is Matt, thanks for noticing. However, I had to replace the Atlas with Micro Engineering Code 148.  I found some bottoming when using the Atlas.  I think the spikes on the ME track probably have a lower profile.

I still use Atlas O Code 148 turnouts, no problem there.
