Fresh out of the paint shop.
My Lionel Legacy Polar Railroad GP7 is in the Backshop until the Lionel parts sale in November. It needs three boards.
In the meanwhile, new motive power has just joined the roster for pulling PE/PRR Christmas freight. A Pewter Santa from Lionel is at the controls.

Power-up checkout complete.

IMHO Lionel missed the boat in not naming their Bipolar the Bi Polar Express. After all, Santa's routes run from the North Pole to the South Pole.

New Haven Railroad Alco S-2 #0617 (MTH with PS-3) on my 12'-by-8' layout. Two truss bridges with a girder bridge between them cross the four-track yard below. Originally, the yard had five tracks and truss bridges were built because a clear span was necessary. Eventually, the center track in the lower yard was removed and, instead of another costly truss, the railroad built a girder bridge since there was room in the yard for a center support where the track had been...

Thanks for starting the thread this week. Tuesday night we a visitor at the club and he shot video of my tinplate layout for his YouTube channel.

Great Layout video Scott! Good work on building that layout featuring vintage trains.

Last Thursday I received the new MTH MP15 in BC Hydro yellow and red paint. All day Friday I was able to take a really old Lionel switcher engine that did not run, removed the motor and repainted it to match the paint colors of the BCH MP15. Also put together and painted up a Resin Caboose kit to match. Got it done late Friday night a quick one day build/ paint (easy with Tamiya quick dry spray paints). On Saturday our Canadian Toy Train Association club had a members day at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park. I set up a track in the parking lot and ran the club produced new BCH MP15 with my just painted Lionel dummy engine and caboose and a string of BC Hydro and BC Electric (the name before it was renamed to BCH) freight cars. Nearly all of these freight cars were custom runs for the CTTA club; https://www.canadiantoytrains.org/canada-club-cars/

Here are some photos from our visit to the park with a BC Rail RDC ride to explore the restoration shops. Note the BC Electric (ex BCH) Steeple Cab Electric engine almost complete. Click on photo for a larger view.

I still call mine the Tri-Polar.  It's the Polar, Bi-Polar...making in 3 Polars.

I've posted this before I imagine, but the smallest guy right in front of the platform is me with my brother, one of my sisters, and dad at the controls.  I figure 1967 or 68.  This even though hard to see is one of my all time favorite photos.  It showed me what could be done with a small space and creativity.  And it just so happens to have one of my favorite people in it, dad.

These guys work hard keeping the locos clean for the bright colorful MPC boxcar consist.

Although the worker doing the scrubbing doesn't look very happy.

Rock Island

Put some Mohave dust and dullcoat on an ABBA set of Santa Fe F’s.  Weathered the F3B heavier than the F7’s. 
I still do not have the cab units as dull looking as old photos indicate, but stopped after 5 coats of clear finish.  I have earlier confessed to messing up an expensive project with heavy-handed dullcoating.

Federal Express delivered a package to me last weekend, and here is the special 120th anniversary boxcar from Lionel.  I am still waiting on the caboose.  One side of the car promotes the tinplate years, with the 400E and tin train station, along with Laurence Cowen featured on the door.  I placed this on display with my Warhorse Norfolk & Western set.

The set features a 746 (this time numbered 600) and the engine and cars are weathered to look like the train is in service.  To my knowledge, there are only 3 sets in this series.  I have this and the Santa Fe 4-6-4 with billboard boxcars.  This set has a TMCC controller. 

The other side of the boxcar shows a more recent Lionel product, the BNSF diesel, along with a billboard and watchman with shanty.  Both designs of the car were created by Angela Trotta Thomas. 

When I was the artist in residence at the LA maritime museum I was asked to do a model of a 15"50 caliber navel rifle from the IOWA class battleships, we happen to have one which the museum received from the Navy, the model of the gun was going to be presented to the founder of the museum Mr. I Roy Coats , I made a mold and some castings of the gun. here is one of them.

Well, I got here finally. I had received the brown GGD Coaling Tower on Labor, and the Black one the following Monday. I am very happy to have both and hope to get my new idea for a layout together and hopefully break ground before winter sets in. It will be a 126"x98" design which I have partial plans done, but nothing really solid. I have to work on clearing the back bedroom to get this done as that is where it will be set up, site of the very old and long gone HO layout from so long ago.

I also ran one of my Atlantic engines today to get some exercise while listening to the KC LA game in the other room. I may have missed out on some of the football action, but I needed a little train running today.

And shutdown.
