I just received this for Christmas from my wife. The Woodland scenics Emilio's restaurant, I put just a very slight touch of weathering on it. What a beautiful structure.
Here is the start of my First Responders Training consist. Waiting for the release of the other cars.

Got a temporary loop set up in the basement, where Phase I of my planned layout will be constructed. Obviously a lot simpler than what the real thing will be, but still enough to have fun running some longer trains. Will be nice to have until I get back to work on finishing the rest of the room.

Looks like a great space.
A few words of caution! It looks like I see the main sewer line clean out on far wall. You definitely want to maintain ease access to and much room around it.

Yeah, while the main line will bow out a bit more than on this loop, that corner will basically be one big lift-out access hatch w/scenery but no track. Definitely being designed to clear a path in case of emergency. I'm thinking that wall will basically be three 4'x8' tables (coming out towards the center of the room). That way there would at worst be a clear tunnel underneath to the access hatch, and could likely just slide out the entire section w/a few cuts to the track. I also plan on overbuilding my benchwork in that area so that someone of my size can still climb on top.
Busy at work this week, so not much happening....just a few pics of my new Army Geeps.....
Looking for these beauties to pull a 30 plus car army train that should hit about 40 cars when the Atlas remakes of the Weaver troop cars are delivered.

JUST SAYING! A while back another forum member with a situation like this with a reenforced top in that area lamented for not have it clear, space for equipment and men. Remember if line is clogged when the plug is removed the "STUFF" goes all-over the place!
Scott,
Thanks for posting those photos of Hagerstown's HO layout. That layout was a big part of my early life as it was owned and built by the Gaithersburg (MD) Model Railroad Society in Gaithersburg, MD. It was in the Mills House in Old Town Gaithersburg, across the street from the CSX/B&O Main Line. I have not seen it since it left the Mills House circa 2004. Glad to see it again! I will make it a point to see it in 2017. The Gaithersburg group always had it open and running for the public on Saturdays. Nearly every week, I was there running my HO trains on that layout. When that layout left town, I pretty much left the HO hobby. Some of my HO trains never ran again once that layout was taken down. Brings back a LOT of memories!
Anyway....
I picked up "Part 1" of my "Christmas Presents to Myself" today from Toy Trains and Collectibles in Manassas, VA. What a super engine. Really glad I bought this. Love the strobe lights on the roof. Runs beautifully. I can see why 042 curves are the bare minimum for this loco! "Part 2" will get picked up from Engine House Hobbies in Gaithersburg, MD this afternoon! While at TT&C, I also grabbed 2 of the new MTH Houses with Christmas lights. I originally ordered one but after seeing how nice they were, I had to have another. What I'll do with two, I don't know but I guess there are bigger problems I could have!
As is customary, we spent the Holidays (and summers) in the Hamptons, NY right on the ocean. While eastern LI is a train "wasteland", Lynch's Garden Center sets up a nice Lionel layout and sells RTR sets, Fastrack and add-on cars during Christmas. As I was leaving, the LIRR rolled by as well.
The crew of the MPC around the Tree Central are enjoying some Holiday cookies.
Back to work for a just a few more days. Then the MPC gets stored away until late November.
Spotting a Maine Central boxcar with the 40 year old "Pine the route" paint scheme always makes my day. Brings back my childhood taking watching memories.

1401 never fails to impress, huh? When I was in the Army, I was in DC countless times and I always made a point to go look her over each time I could. I never got tired of the sight of this PS-4.
I've often wondered what might have happened had this locomotive gone anywhere else and not been scrapped. Contrary to what some have said, she was NOT ready to run when donated and had been sitting outside for years after her last shop visit. They only did what is today called a 'cosmetic restoration' before handing her over to the Smithsonian.
Later, some folks within the SRR steam program said they deeply regretted giving this locomotive away (especially where it couldn't possibly ever be removed) as they'd for sure have run her when they brought back steam for excursions in the 60s.
Sadder still, I've heard rumors that there was an idea to get that Canadian 4-6-2 at TVRM at Chattanooga modified into an overall appearance as a PS-4 and run excursions with that one, made to look like a PS-4 like 1401 above. That never came to pass and I'm not 100% sure today how serious those discussions really got. It wouldn't have been the same as 1401 in steam again but man, it still would have been a sight to see!

Glad you got inside to see it. Note the bridge in your photos of MARC and Amtrak still has the Pennsylvania Railroad markings on it, albeit faded and rusty-er since the last time I was in that area.
The Private Car in your photos is "Cannonball". An article from NY's Southampton Press can be found HERE. Below is a photo. When I commuted through Union Station daily, I often saw a variety of special equipment and private cars. "Cannonball" was a regular sight. Last saw it in June, again in Washington a few tracks over from the AEM7 Farewell trip.
This past week, my best friend, Mitchell Dakelman came for his annual holiday visit. We met through the TCA many years ago, and share our interests in Lionel trains, the PRR, railfanning, highways, and "The World's Greatest Highway," aka, The Pennsylvania Turnpike. We co-authored a book on the subject 12 years ago, and our latest effort, "The Glory Years of the Pennsylvania Turnpike" was just released on December 5th. As we generally do during his visits, we go railfanning and highwayfanning.
This year we had a special treat when we travelled west of Pittsburgh to the area of New Galilee and Enon Valley. There we stopped at the Haggerty Road grade crossing where one may simultaneously view both the former "Standard Railroad of the World" and "The World's Greatest Highway." We were accompanied by my son Steven. Local paramedics were on call in case Mitch went into cardiac arrest due to the overwhelming excitement of engaging in the simultaneous observation of the two greatest transportation accomplishments in the history of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania! Mitch may be seen in the top two photos pointing out and observing the Pennsylvania Turnpike which may be seen through the trees in the distance.
Aside from looking at both facilities, it is a superb area in which to do train photography. Back to model photographs in next week's post...

Happy weekend and Happy New Year wishes to all OGR Forum members & to the OGR staff! Some really nice posts so far...as always.
Since this is the "New Year's Edition" of WPF, I figured I'd post a few photos related to one of my New Year's resolutions. I'm finally getting around to unpacking and sorting through a large "O" gauge & HO scale train collection that I purchased almost 2 years ago!!
I recently finished the larger HO portion...now I'm working on the "O" gauge stuff as time permits. I'm usually a very organized person, so this mess on the floor of my new train room is driving me crazy...LOL!!
