happy almost weekend everybody.  Getting started a little early tonight but today I dropped by my LHS and found these 2 little gems for short money.   These 2 early Father's Day presents to myself are an original standard gauge 124 station and what looks like a Lionel O gauge bungalow but isn't and for the $10 I paid for it I'm not splitting hairs!   The 124 will be getting some parts for a make over. Stay tuned!    Let's see your tinplate!

Chris,

the Bowers/Mullins reproductions of the classic Lionel Bungalow and Villa are very good repros. They are very true to the originals and come in all the painted colors that were originally offered. They did not reproduce the lithograph versions. At a fraction of the price of an original, these repros are an easy way to populate your railroad empire. Not to worry, these are clearly marked on the bottom and on the inside of the roof.

A quick restoration project this week... an American Flyer Type I.  It had been indiscriminately blasted with black paint, which covered up a layer of gold paint, which covered up the remnants of the original paint.  The boiler bands cleaned up nicely, although the side rods didn't clean up quite as well.  Motor was pretty complete, just needed a lot of cleanup from said paint and rust, plus had a bent rear axle that had to be replaced:

Yes these are nicely done for sure!   I would definitely like to find some more.

Three new ladies from Barclay Company arrived today and are officially residents on my Std. Gauge layout. My daughter and I agree they look like sisters! I love their dresses and hats. I am going to repaint one as a blonde, one as a redhead, and one as a brunette and call them Patti, Maxine and Laverne. Now if I could just find them a litho nightclub (or USO canteen) to sing in...

If you have Laverne, you'll need a Shirley.

gosh, how I thought that show was horrible. Nope, just the Andrew Sisters.

I'm a little late this weekend, but here's a tinplate video to watch.  A while back I picked up these derelict 1926 Ives 187-188-189 cars and rebuilt them, making them Ives Cadet Blue:

So here they are winding their way around the figure-8 and through the tunnels and bridges on the "south table" of the layout – a little different scenery than usual. Traction is provided by a black MTH Ives 3245.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads among you playing with trains today!

Another Dorfan rescue is on the rails. This was actually a 157 which should be a clockwork, but I bought it as a shell broken into 4-5 pieces. The tender had been brush painted over the decals. The engine had been epoxied together and a Marx electric motor installed. The tender shell was striped, repainted and home made decals applied.

Papa, what are these little Accessory Controllers next to the track?

Thanks Arno!   As you know, the "south table" anex of the layout has all traditional 42" diam. curves and switches, as well as the vintage tunnels and bridges, so only the "smaller" standard gauge trains can run there... these just barely qualify... can't put the pantographs up!

Steve, you are making good use of those Marx motors.  This one looks like it was made that way - even the valve gear fits!
