Weekend tinplate photos/videos 1/11/19!

A few shots of gray #9E (11-2022-1) with 300 series cars (11-40036).

Standard gauge Ives 1134 on the Hell Gate bridge, and an O gauge Lionel 2360 GG1 in action with a train of heavyweight Pullmans. 

Hornby made  the No 2 Special Tank 4-4-2 locomotive in many colored versions in clockwork and electric. Here are 2 of the LMS (London, Midland and Scottish railway) clockwork versions in red and black:

we stopped at one of our local antique shops the other day. Found a few things (so did the wife!)

found a couple cheap boxes.

I had a 3464 box already, but this one was too cheap too pass up. I was surprised at the size difference. The Chicago box is longer.

and a 2046W tender. Looked pretty good on the outside, just missing one step. But when I took the shell off, the whistle looked like it had spent a few decades on the Titanic, and is beyond saving.

First find of the year 2019 on the equivalent of your Craig’s List, in French called the Good Corner and sometimes it is really good. An all original train set made by J d P for “Jouets de Paris”, just before it became JEP, this one dates from 1921-22 and is a high voltage model. Finding one in such good condition doesn’t happen very often and this model is especially rare to find. Just cleaned some dusting and made some oiling and the tracks needs a little cleaning also, notified that even the ties of the tracks are litho; there is just a little damage on the base of the rheostat but it works fine. Now I have to run it a little….. 60 volts at his best.

I am sorry Fred but all of us sometime make some nice finds..... I agree with you it would have look nice on your layout for a video but you also have so many nice ones....  I hope you will find one.

You just have to be carefull, keep the cat under control, no childrens around, a wife or girl friend aventually but no more. 

In fact many high voltage trains you may find are generally in very good condition and not abused .... maybe some bad experience of the previous owners with electricity. And for those who are afraid of making an original use this trains also run well with a 20 v transformer but original way is so much better and historic. Also have some 4 volts trains ....

I think 1:24 is G scale or bigger. I looked for cars that were closer to 1:27. These are not really to scale. I think they are about 6" to 6.5" long. A 1:24 car would be about 8" long depending on the model. This was the trickiest part of picking the right cars to go with my standard gauge trains. Much easier for O gauge.
