Remember Steve Eastman's experience with this item last month? I think you should head towards Indiana!
Ask again in a week or so. Jeff & Bob picked up Dorfan cranes at York. Let's see how theirs arrive.
Steve
My crane arrived ok, but I was worried. I commute 170 miles everyday to work , so for me it would be a no brainer.
Bob
found this jewel at the castle Shannon vol fireman's meet in Pittsburgh pa today (ok its in castle Shannon as sub) got a great deal from my table buddy bill l,,,,i love the orange and green af used missing an outside light but other wise great shape has a light that will shine out the dormer !

I guess you're saying it wasn't you?
Nope. That's out of my league (right now). I did buy the Dorfan Crane though... Trying to decide whether I need to drive 170 miles to go pick it up...

I gave up on this auction, too rich for me!
Many of the items were high grade with original boxes. It is a very impressive collection. There were a couple of finds though. A few I missed by getting distracted. An American Flyer Chrome silver bullet went for $120, which I think is quite reasonable. There were many holy grail pieces in the collection that expectedly got top dollar.
George
I wonder if people keep the buyer's premium in mind. That Boucher set would end up at nearly $13k. And then there's shipping, and sales tax if it was an Indiana buyer...
A lot of money was being thrown around. I watched some of the bidding online, and many bids were made from the floor.

Tough call. Their pickup hours are rather limited. I've found their shipping charges to be reasonable, and the items I've received have always been packed well. The crane already has some damage - do you know what their policy is if further damage occurs?

Later, I exchanged a few emails with our own, George S. He gave me a tutorial on restoring old tinplate. Thank you, George. As promised, here are the before and after pics:
Bravo! Excellent work.
TERRY: NICE find! I also have a complete, excellent plus AF #102 station complete with cloth hookup wire, but no box. My lamp brackets were intact, but I had to replace both exterior bulbs with the proper frosted white large globe bulbs. Love those brass doors, and of course, the lithography! A classic! Just curious: my #102 does NOT have the central station sign attached to the roof END like yours? A rare variation? The sign on mine is below the dormer only.
Picked up these tin buildings at our TTOS meet this weekend. Not sure what came in them, but an unusual shape. The barn is like a mini mailbox.

These are nice Steve. Two schools in competition with each other in the one prairie town. A good education will be had by all!

I'll look into it. I could not find anything on damage in shipping. I also don't know their pickup hours.
Yes, it showed that one leg was broken where almost every crane I have seen was broke. The rest looked to be pretty pristine. I don't want any of the other legs to break.
