Well..... in for a penny in for a pound. Since Greg brought up Ives passenger sets from the early 1920's in the last Tinplate Photos and Videos and showed us his consist with dark green roofs and orange sides I thought we might as well see what the other half looked like.

new arrival this week. I had been after a 659 for a while, just never got around to getting one (yet), then I saw an 809...never knew about them until recently, and they don't seem very common.Seems small after the O Gauge cars I've picked up recently.

Thanks for posting the Ives catalog cut. Its always fun to see the artwork in comparison to the reality.
Keeping with the Ives theme for a while; here is what I believe is a good representation of Set #436 cataloged in 1928 - The Fort Orange
The engine is a repaint, but the cars are in their original paint.

The set was cataloged as a 3 car set,
but I had an extra #135 Pullman in the collection. So I made the passenger train heading home for Christmas one car longer.

I recently finished getting both colored frames of the early Lionel-Winner Lines freight cars (red & black frames, of the same series (1512,1514,1515,1517). These were used with the 1588/1588T clockwork, or the 1689E by Lionel. The cars were listed as early as 1932 from the Winner Electric Train catalog. The top row of the complete sets was just the black frames alone. The lower photo is comparison of both framed colors. The 1514 at top has NO “Baby Ruth” loco, nor Lionel stamping, (presuming this is the early Winner issue).

Ha! They had the idea first. I saw that same 6 pack a few years ago and I thought that was a pretty great idea so I stole it. Cheers!
I picked up an old Lionel 262 on eBay. The seller said it runs, but when I took it to a LHS, it only sat and buzzed. However, I figured the buzzing was a good sign, so I proceeded to take it apart and tune it up. The motor ran without the frame and shell, but it would short out frequently. I started investigating the wiring and found the worst dry-rot I had ever seen. Three of the wires lost all of their insulation in a crumbled messy pile. So, I completely re-wired it. I could not get to the pickup roller wire and did not want to take the wheels off, but I was able to take insulation off a similar gauge wire and persuasively slip it on. It works now! Here is a picture.
One of the wheels is bad, so that will need replacement someday. I also did not get a tender. I got my Christmas carpet layout setup and borrowed my MTH 260t Vanderbilt tender so I could pull some freight. Here is a video.
I actually bought the engine for another project, which I will share on Christmas. However, I really like it and may need to get another motor for my project.

Lionel Transcontinental Limited consisting of an original standard gauge Lionel state brown 408E with Williams reproduction state cars. When I acquired the engine it was heavily stained and looked like it was soaked in motor oil and coffee grinds. Fortunately after a complete disassembly, cleaning, polishing, and fabrication of a couple of missing handrails I can now enjoy my 408E paired with a recent purchase of matching State cars. The requisite red and green bulbs add a nice Christmas flavor.

Those of you who are following my posts know that I substituted metal Kibri stations for plastic Hornby on my Dublo layout. My latest acqusition completes the stations on my 0 Gauge layout. It is the Kibri 0 Gauge 52-15, the only Kibri I believe that includes the attached covered platform. It joins the 52-4 0 Gauge and the 52-5 S/0 gauge stations. The 52-15 station was once owned by the incredible Jerry Greene. His collection sold recently for tens of millions of dollars. Enjoy.

Here is the station all lit up.
Light from the 262 headlight was showing under the boiler front. I added a little window insulation in the boiler to fix it. Then I needed to get lens covers for the lower marker lights. I used a hole punch, a plastic folder insert and a dab of gel glue. Seems to look OK.

Thanks Dave. I found a nice tender and just ordered it. Now I want to find some Ives litho cars to match with it.
I just bought another 262 that has a junker shell. I need the motor for a project. I bought the one shown above for that project, but liked it too much.
