Alex the whole generation of these Mohawks are great, the legacy version adds a little more to the thrill.

I like your new toy :-) Goes great with the layout.

What a beautiful engine. Good lock with Alex I'm sure you and your family will  run it with pride for many years to come.

I know your a little more discerning about sound then I am but I think the chuff rate is fine.

In any case I hope you have the best of luck with it.

Great engine Alex!!! I can tell u already been in the smoke unit. Seeing  how well the engine smokes.

Alex....I have this locomotive and you are absolutely correct....it is wonderful.  I also have the MTH version.  Can't wait to hear the 4 chuffs that you have now perfected on your other locomotives!

Alex, are there directions somewhere on how to upgrade the smoke unit? I would like to do that to mine.

I'm curious - in your first photo, what are the two connectors - red and black on either side and near the turnout indicator light -  for?

Lionel tends to be hit and miss with things, the tooling on the L2a mohawk is definitely a hit. 

Heres my 2005 version. There is 4 chuffs on these.

Very nice. Hope you have many years of enjoyment with this engine.

I'm looking for your version of this model though.  I like the whistle better and I like the early style of lettering.  But  the Legacy sure is fantastic!

Lee that's a MTH lock on which gives power to that siding.I can control the power to all my yards and sidings .

Maybe you could learn how to install Whistle Steam in older engines like this, then we could send you our steamers to have them upgraded. 

Just think of how busy you would be then!
