We closed on our new home today. So now what am I going to do with this big basement space?

Fill'er up!
Put in a surround sound theater system.
Also how about the yard - enough room for your Railroadiana stuff ??
Get a sheet of 4x8 plywood. Put and circle of track on it, hire a dj, invite a whole lot of your train buddies and have a party and run trains.
I will be right over with my tool box in hand and table saw... we will be running trains after 4 week ends!
W W. I can almost smell sawdust.
Oh man! A totally blank canvas! Now your big standard gauge sets have somewhere to stretch! Congrats!
"What am I going to do with this?"
Well, you could invite your OGR Forum buddies over for Beer and Pizza....
Joe,
Looks wonderful! congrats on the new place
If you don't know, you're in the wrong hobby.
Anything your wife or significant other says you can!

Seriously, that's a nice area to work with!
The obvious, lol, Build one heck of a layout, plus a nice comfy area to relax in, and enjoy your trans and your favorite beverage, lol, congrats to you and the wife and good luck....
You guys in the east have such great houses and basements! My little 650 square foot California bungalow is tightly packed with trains and no basement.
But at least I don't have to deal with snow. Ever.
Looks like it would make a great bowling alley

That is just way too much space for a layout... said no one ever!
Looks like your going to need some more stuff for outdoor display as well. Might even be able to squeeze in a signal bridge. How cool would that be?
That will give you a lot of levels, valleys, canyons, cities, villages, towns, turntable, airports...
I don't know how old you are however I think you better start now, just saying.
I'd make a huge walk-in closet for your wife!

Congrats Joe , I can't wait to see what you will build in that great space . Looking for many threads to come !!!!!
Congratulations on that Joe. It's gonna be 1 heck of a layout.. have fun and take plenty of pics of the build. By the way where is your new home? Looks beautiful.
Joe,
Congrats on your new home, looks like one heck of a Train Room! Ease into it buddy you have the rest of your life to construct exactly what you want!
Take a lot of pictures as you build your Train Room.
As you move make sure all your Trains are in boxes and identified properly, so you know where everything is when you start to build your Train Room.
Do your rewiring 1st before you even move in.
Have a great time in your new home, we love ours!

It's located in New Ringgold, Pa.
Joe, tell you what you help me fill mine up with trains and I will help you fill yours up but yours looks much bigger than mine. I only about 2000 SQ FT to fill up.

Joe-
Those shelves look perfect for storing the burgeoning lineup of our shadowboxes and buildings! But seriously, congrats! I know is been a long load and it looks like you and yours have a keeper! The vegetable garden possibities abound!!!
Hey Joe.
Congratulations!
Just minutes from Leiby's!!!

Call Big Boy, the basement king.
Congratulations, this is an amazingly wonderful scene for a future dream model railroad. Planned properly, this may be your Best Masterpiece. Your past man cave model railroad Empire was great, this one could be a Showcase second to none. Good luck, good planning, keep us posted. Fantastic home and we wish you the Best. Thank you for posting. (I retire March 31st)

Congratulations Joe! Beautiful house and property. I love the garage too! Enjoy it!
A nice N-Gauge layout would fit nice in that basement. Full size Norfolk Southern system maybe?
Hi Joe
Congrats on the closing !!
What you do is build an EMPIRE ! AKA a huge layout , AKA dream layout !! Enjoy every minute of it , and start a thread on this forum so we can all enjoy the ride with you.
Congratulations to you and Chris
enjoy, Alex
Craft room for the missus?
Mitch
Congrats Joe! It looks like you've got plenty of room for train habit, both inside and out, with some left over for entertainment area, workshop, "craft room", and storage. Will you use the shelves to store yortrains or will they be sacrificed for benchwork?
Look at that space. Looking at that highlights the only downside I can see, living in the south. No basements. Heck, my crawlspace isn't higher than 24" in most parts.
I believe there is a guy out in Minnesota who can give you some ideas.
If you are looking for something to put in the yard somebody has a 1:1 steamer up for sale on another thread.
Congrats on the new house! I wish I had even a third of that space.
Bob
A home gym!
Congrats Joe! FWIW, Finish it off, then call TW trainworks or Dunham studios to fill er up! This way you can concentrate on your outdoor railroadania decor! BTW, I am just down I78 so don't you forget about me or the Allentown show.. Lots of Railroadania there!

Maybe but you have Earthquakes, Annual Fires and Mudslides! Judging by your post you seem sedate about it. I hope you have taken some protection to your collection. BTW do you still have a Drought situation?
