That MTH will rerelease the Detroit monorail?

I am waiting for the rerelease of the PRR c-liners as well as the C-liner demo set.
They made it before so they will make it again. That makes economic sense. When they make it is another question because of the Lionel Corporation Tinplate deal. I believe MTH will not be making any product that does not have a Lionel license.
My guess would be in 5 years it will be announced. BTW I will be ordering one when it is released.
I would agree probably not before the Lionel deal comes to an end. That's good and bad. I would not like to see the partnership of Lionel and MTH end anytime soon but it would be nice to see some other things re released like the Leland mono rail which I have been waiting for like everyone else.
There was a rumor floating around that the MTH factory in China had mislaid the tooling for the Leland Detroit monorail and couldn't find it. If true, that would account for the fact that MTH hasn't rerun the thing, despite considerable demand and unbelievable resale prices on eBay.
Apparently things are a bit dodgey over in China. I was told by an MTH service tech that the tooling for the 840 power station had been stolen and that's why they haven't been released in some time. I wonder what it would cost to make new tooling? I'm sure it's not cheap. I seem to recall being told that the cost of new tooling for an item may not even be covered by selling the first run of that item. It may be a long time before we see another Leland monorail made, which stinks since I want one too.
John.
I don't get it? Why would someone steal the tooling for something as big as the 840 power station? What are they going to do with it? Melt it down for scrap maybe?
Something that big doesn't get "stolen", it gets "misplaced" until the right hand gets greased.
I remember when I had them in stock. They were a tough sell at the time.
