I woke up this morning to find the complete Lionel Rio Grande Ski passenger set (new, in boxes) under my temporary living room HO layout!  (Not that it wasn't there yesterday, but no one need know.)  Looks like I'll have to move the couch and add another folding table to the mix today!  Now, if Santa would only bring me the new Lionel Rio Grande Verdana!

Merry Christmas everyone!  Santa nailed it this year in my house.  Got a box with a spare DCS remote and assorted goodies along with a new RS-3 and a Dominos sugar box car.  Trainworld/MTH killed it with this engine.  Perfect paint and excellent freight sounds.  I’m actually now a little hesitant to weather and decal it with more prototypical MTA signage because it looks so good.

Sounds like most everyone, except for those who received coal, had a fantastic day of model railroading.  Unfortunately, I've been doing the keeping up appearances thing and probably won't even get a chance to take my new toys out of the box today.  There is also the I'm expecting to explode around the mid section any minute now issue.

Time with family.........which was the best gift I could get!

Over 2020, I have received many gifts that count as Christmas presents.....

1. The attic was turned into a train room.

2. I ordered a pile of track and roadbed from Ross.

3. I have additional Mianne parts coming to turn my 6x16 layout into an L shaped 14x22 layout.

4. 48 Glen Snyder shelves

5. Tools, paint, glue and modeling supplies as I need them. Here is one gift that Santa brought me:

Today Christmas morning I opened my new set of 2 Lionel Legacy PA diesels, New Haven RR!  I'm new here to the forum, and haven't run a train since the 1970s.  I'll be asking you all for lot's of advice as I build the track.  Gotta have it ready for when the matching (red & black New Haven) 6 passenger cars are delivered, around May 2022!

Godzilla and Son 20211225MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

We had a vey big O gauge Christmas this year,  after years of relatively behaving myself.  I blame my 26yr old son who really regained interest in the hobby this year.  We focused on older Lionel and K-Line sets from the early 2000s and later that have withstood the test of time.  Most of what is shown is for his collection, but I did add some Southern and N&W K-Line / Atlas items.

It’s been a really fun year of enjoying the hobby with my son and this Christmas was the results of all the great times that we shared with each other this year.

Lionel:

From the 2006 vol 2 catalog the TMCC PRR Coal Train set, along with all the add-on pieces from that catalog.  Included the powered and dummy GP30, 8 die cast three bay coal cars, and caboose with train phone antennas.

From the same catalog, the TMCC PRR Ballast Train set with BB1 electric locomotive, ballast dump car, and lighted work caboose.

From 2015, the Legacy Big Blue set which includes a Conrail SD70MAC and 4 very large 86’ high cube boxcars.  One with EOT flasher.  We also added a K-Line Conrail extended vision caboose for the times he wants to run other rolling stock with that engine.

K-Line:

From early 2000s, the 6 car 18” PRR Heavyweight Broadway Limited passenger car set.

Similar vintage, the 5 car 18” Southern Heavyweight Crescent Limited passenger car set. (We really fell in love with the detail of these later era K-Line heavyweights.)

Next is a 4 car set of die cast N&W 2 bay hoppers. Been looking for some cars that would fit well with my Lionmaster Class A.

individual cars added were an aluminum PRR tank car and an aluminum Chessie system center flow hopper. Really like the older K-Line aluminum items.

Atlas:

A TMCC Southern SD35 to add to my growing Southern equipment collection.

also received a few slightly used MTH buildings for my layout.
