Since we live near a ski hill. I thought I should add something Ski related to the winter section of my layout. To That end, I  added a used mr. Christmas Ski Hill. I have lots of work to do on the surrounding area and I'm looking for a snowy mountain backdrop to add. Anyway, as an ex skier, it's nice to see the figures skiing down the mountain. What seems odd to me though is they never fall like I did frequently.

Great addition to your layout. I thought that I'd show you how we added a snowboard slope accessory to the mountain on the club Christmas layout. I had prepared a a ski accessory; but then some members thought that we would comprise the mountain support's. It was slated for the right side of the hill. On another note I had to repair the mechanism. It was skipping. I ordered a gear and drive belt.

hey Bob, thank you so much for that information and  video. What a great layout! The snowboarding feature really adds so much to the mountain. I have a long way to go at this point, but you've given me some great ideas. thanks for sharing. If I may ask do you recall where you got the belt and pully that you needed to make repairs? Thanks much, Craig

Mark, thanks for the positve remarks.  it's funny how seeing something now can stir those old memories. Last year as my train came out of the first tunnel. I cut, reminded me of 1953 when I was at the museum of science and industry enamored with the trains that were running under the floor and coming out in different areas of the museum from tunnels.  each little mini layout was probably a 10 x 10 square opening revealing  the trains passing  through, each with its own village or other setting. I ran from room to Rome just to see the trains come from under the floor into each unique layout.  So, motivated by that memory, I cut six tunnels on three levels into the next room spurred  on by the early  museum of Science and Industry experience.

I'll look it up and get back to you.

No photos yet, but yesterday I began selecting used Gargraves track to begin installing a 20 foot second of track for a trolley I have had for two years.  The trolley will run at the end next to the doorway to the train room.  Hopefully it will add lots more action on the layout has I am operating my engines.   The trolley has Balboa Park printed on the side. I have had several in my family tell me they have been to Balboa Park and have seen the trolly.

The install will last me at least a week.

I have enjoyed the day and evening working on the layout while listening to the district basketball tournament games.

The videos and the sky full of new clouds are great guys.

The man is really helpful when I got the gear and I was trying to get it onto the shaft. It kept slipping. I couldn't get it straight. I called him up. He gave me a real simple fix. You  measure the outside of the gear.  if you have a one of those drill size cards, it's really easy. Ddrill a hole in a piece of scrap wood to fit  the gear and then drill a hole within the hole for the shaft. Place  the gear into the larger hole, put the shaft above it and gently tap it in and you're done.
