I know it is a little early to ask, but I always anticipate a new catalog from Lionel to have great things and I just couldn't wait. I have heard rumors about a vision big boy, which would be awesome. I would not mind seeing some 2-8-0s upgraded to legacy. Any ideas?

I predict an empty wallet.
Oops, wrong part of the forum.

I predict an empty wallet.
That's probably true.
I would love to see the 2-8-0's comeback with Legacy!

Higher Prices!
Overall disappointment - I'm hoping it won't though.

delight and consternation, probably in equal amounts.

constipation?! Oh wait ... have to put my reading glasses on...
After the past 3 years of Catalogs, it is hard to tell what they will show us as plans for production.
Somebody liked to mix time periods in O Scale train sets, such as the CN piggback set. Could that continue?
Andrew
More high end electronic robots I can't afford and have no interest in vs cheapend things that I find insulting. Meanwhile there'll be little or nothing in the middle similar to Williams quality and price level.
A Vision Big Boy with "Depleting Coal Load" and an included Fastrak IR Sensor track?
I have reservations that there will be a significant amount of new product. With the new management direction that Lionel has taken this spring, I believe that they will take a conservative route in terms of new tooling.
I predict that it will be a boring disaster.

$900 Vision diesels.
A Legacy scale PRR Duplex would be nice.
A Vision Big Boy with "Depleting Coal Load" and an included Fastrak IR Sensor track?
Like the "operating" hopper from MTH that "sucked" the flexible coal down to make it look like it lowered?

To paraphrase the words of Howard Carter, 'I foresee wonderful things.'
Seriously though, I'm sure that it will be of great delight and interest to many, and going from past experience, a disappointment to some others.
I personally am very much looking forward to it being published, and I am sure that there will be many wondrous items that will find their way onto my layout.
for me the new catalog will bring me nothing. i like the pre and post pieces.
I am guessing that we will see a couple locos that will take a big chunk out of a months salary plus the usual whimsical stuff that the kids like. And probably a 10% increase to help the Chinese labor force.
I'm hoping they have the rumored add on automobiles for the new autoracks
Since 1951, I have Always Enjoyed the LIONEL and AMERICAN FLYER catalogs. When I actually get my hands on the Catalogs, LIONEL or AMERICAN FLYER, I become a Recluse, and Read Every Page of All catalogs, and Yes DREAM of that Dream Railroad I want to build. Yes, I, like others, can not afford many of the offerings, but "PRAISE THE LORD", I am Thankful For What I can afford.
What I would like to see is, a Legacy Scale O-6-0 Steam Switch Engine.
We are very fortunate to have Companies. Like LIONEL and MTH and WEAVER, and ATLAS-0, Ross, Gargraves, Miller Lighting, MillHouse Studios, Z-Stuff---And all the Advertisers of Hobby Shops and those Folks that Host Shows for us to Attend..Wow,
We are in the Best of Times..There should Be no complaints, just Pats on the back
For a Job Well Done. Lets Keep This Hobby Alive!!!
I know it will have stuff in it that I want. If history is any guide, quite a lot of stuff.
Beyond that, I have not a clue.
Satisfaction and/or dissatisfaction.

As this type of thread seems to evolve anyway, I shall now attempt to move it from "what I think" to "what I want":
A "Pilot" (unpainted) NYC Niagara would find its way to my house. Yessir.
And I'm not blowing smoke; I just reserved a Pilot SP GS-6 (from Legacy Station.)
I want a Conventional 675 Pennsylvania Steam engine and the green 027 stream lined Passenger cars.
How about some Lionel Lines Green 60ft Passenger cars to go with the new Scale Turbines, and when I mean the same paint scheme as the 2400 series cars.
Thanks
Pat

The truck bolsters on the Standard O Scale plastic body freight cars need to be revised so that they will be able to accept the modern trucks with rotating roller bearing caps and swinging couplers. The old trucks with the stiff couplers cause derailments!
There are still so many railroad schemes to be applied to the O Scale freight cars that they do not need to make many "new" freight cars right now. Just put the real railroad graphics and colors on these freight cars.
Examples of freight cars that have not gotten all the possible railroad names and schemes:
3-Bay Cylindrical Hopper
ACF Center Flow 3560 Cu. Ft. 3-Bay Covered Hopper
Exterior-braced 50' Double-door Boxcar
Three-bay, open-top hoppers
Pullman-Standard single-door and double-door 60' Boxcars
Auto Racks on 89' Flat Cars
PS-5 Gondolas
Aluminum body ACF Center Flow 3-Bay Covered Hopper
GATX TankTrain Tank Car sets
30,000 Gallon Tank Cars

Pat, I think a remake of the 675/2025/2035 would be tough. After Lionel made the plastic 2-6-4's the dies were cut up and used as flatcar loads.
A lot of dollars would be involved to make new dies with maybe questionable return.
And it's a very involved engine, a bear to dissassemble/reassemble, with many unique parts. A lot was left off the plastic versions (but they added a firebox light).
But, I'd like to see it too.
If its anything like the last Lionel catalog...all it will bring me is constipation....
LOL.....if the next Lionel catalog is like the last one maybe those of us on the forum can do a remake of this classic commercial!
For MUEagle Lionel has to make the Wisconsin Central 5250 Cu. Ft. Capy. ACF Center Flow 4-Bay Covered Hopper in the series WC 83000-83149, a Northern Pacific Pullman-Standard Single-door 60' auto parts boxcar, and a Milwaukee Road Pullman-Standard Double-door 60' Auto Parts Boxcar.

Ditto Pat!

OOh is this turning into another want thread? Hopefully Lionel reads one of these.
For the umpteenth time, a J3a with Legacy. I don't have a hudson and I don't want to "settle" for 2 chuffs puffer smoke and an oddyssey lurch
They've been going rereleasing all of the old TMCC steamers, so I can only hope... my patience is wearing thin
No "muddy" 75 year old tooling here:
They have to have gotten the factory problems settled by now so that there can be enough freight cars to match the diesel-electric locomotives announced and produced over the past years.
Andrew
Lots of stuff that will never ship.
Seriously, I want a CC or PWC remake of the "Presidential Set" with three aluminum passenger cars and Santa Fe F-3s pulling it.
And those green 027 passenger cars already mentioned in this thread would be nice, too.
