Just curious as to what others are using for greasing gears on locomotives.
I was using grease with teflon in it, not bad
Does anyone use Red N Tacky??

ZW,
Due an OGR search the block is above the vendor display on the left hand side, there is a complete thread on this subject for you to review, good info in it.

Mark is just asking a question. I use Quaker State bearing grease. One little tub lasts a long, long time!
Yes I've used Red N Tacky for years with great results. Just a LITTLE DAB will do ya tho! It stays on forever and never gum up. Especially on worm gears in PW F'3 and PW "geeps". JMHO Always been a hot topic.
ORIGINAL LGB gear grease and LGB "special" gel oil (tinted red with needle applicator) for ease of use!
BOTH products are high quality German-made, and plastics compatible.
There is a ton of people on this forum who use Red n Tacky, including myself.
Labelle 106.
I have some Red N Tacky. I use it on very rare occasion.
Yes, Red N Tacky

I use Red N Tacky. I have a tube big enough to probably keep the NJ Highrailers happy for a long time, so I just filled one of these:

And I'm set for a looooonnnng time.
I use Red'n'Tacky for the external gears, and white lithium lube for the internal gear boxes. Both work great.
Lionel Multi-purpose grease to lubricate the gears, ends of wheels, axles. truck pivots & guides and all moving parts on accessories. I also use slide grease and valve oil from my trumpet case. All brands are the same. The valve oil is good because it stays where you put it and does not fall onto the tracks. The brand is Al Cass Fast, Valve Slide & Key Oil.
Where can I get Red n Tacky?
Bob C.
Robert,
You can get it at Harbor Freight, in a Grease Gun tube, then use the Grease Gun to load it into a Syringe, with or with the bendable end tube. It works out great and you have enough Red & Tack #2 to last your trains for ever.

Everyone is overlooking the correct answer.
Excelle Lubricants is a forum sponsor, and makes a good product.
I use Red N Tacky. I bought it at Pep Boys auto supply and I even saw it at Home Depot building supply, Philadelphia area. It seems alot of people use it on all sorts of power equipment. It comes in a large greese gun tube, but it has an end cap that is easy to remove and replace.
One tube will last most folks for years.
Another vote for Red N Tacky.

Home Depot, just about any auto parts store and as PCRR/Dave said, Harbor Freight. Probably many more places as well.
Just bought a Red "N" Tacky today. Didn't have it at Lowes, but Home Depot did.

Thanks Gang!
This seems like the perfect grease for the Lionel Berkshire type Pullmor Motors and Worm Gears!
