It is a yearly event. Layouts of all scales - 2 bucks to get in. Next year I will likely be exhibiting my multi gauge layout.

I talked to all of the operators in O scale. Here are some common themes.

1. For layouts Fastrack was the preferred choice. (these were traveling layouts)

2. NO ONE used wire bigger than 16 gauge. One person who is a railroader and works at the LHS does EVERYTHING in 18 gauge. Many used 20 gauge.

3. In a very casual query Lionel was the preferred brand, MTH second....

4. The larger the curves the better but all acquiesced to smaller sizes for portable layouts. 0-31 to 0-72 was the range. (no surprise) All cited 0-72 as a good minimum for larger trains.

5. Most ran conventionally but one guy (all in Lionel orange) ran all his trains (5 loops) with his iPad. Very cool.

Aside from this I saw a TT layout. Very rare and interesting. Also a younger group had Lego Trains. They exceeded my expectation for appearance. Very cool. There was little or no G scale this year. Very disappointing. I have yet to see operating Z scale at a show. There were some N and, of course, HO layouts. Also one in S but the big one from the Loose Ties Model Railroad Club was missing....

Lots of fun for $2.

Interesting topic in Williamsport.  Was wondering if they are having the train show up there at the Mall and when is it this year?  Thanks.

As far as I know there is no train show at the Lycoming Mall near Muncy PA. There is a Train show at Wood Ward township fire Hall December 7th.

There is an ongoing train display at the Columbia Mall near Bloomsburg, PA. They have a room with a fairly large O scale set up. I have seen S and G there as well. There is a special section for people in wheelchairs to operate. The mall is dieing. I hope they can revive it. Some anchor stores are leaving.... I will be at Woodward too, a nice little train show.

Loose Ties multi gauge shows will be held at the Susquehanna Valley Mall Friday, December 5 through Sunday the 7th, in Hummels Wharf (Selinsgrove), at the Columbia Mall at the Buckhorn/Bloomsburg exit (232) of I 80, the club's home base where fifteen layouts of varying sizes and gauges are in operation,  on Saturday and Sunday December 13th a &14th, and at the Susquehanna Valley Visitors Bureau on the grounds of Country Cupboard in Lewisburg.  Two free Lionel train sets (Pennsylvania Flyers) will be given to lucky children, ages 14 and under, in Lewisburg and Hummels Wharf and one set will be awarded at Buckhorn.  A lucky youngster won a set at Buckhorn yesterday, following the arrival of Santa.  For the past sixteen years, Loose Ties have given away, at no charge, train sets to children each holiday season.  The club's mantra is that "Christmas, Kids and Trains go together."
