few years ago lionel made a csx ac6000 with super bass. It wasn't very successful because if I remember correctly lionel only put this into 2 locomotives with csx being one. Also the Engines weren't cheap. Imo I think lionel put this technology into the high end current steam engines. I say this because it wasn't long after they dropped their super bass technology that lionel redesigned their speakers and speaker enclosures in their new high end steam and diesel offerings. So I dont think you'll see another super bass unless you buy a older engine equipped with super bass.
A ha!! So the discussion of it in the manual is mostly a 'red herring'....Thank you.
I may be wrong on this but I believe it was only done one year in a CSX AC6000 non-powered engine.

Correct. For the price of that superbase unit, one could have gotten a fully loaded mth premier unit. Also the fact is was only in two road names and too modern of a loco IMHO is what did them in. Now if Lionel did a Superbase SD40-2 in multiple paint schemes, it may have been a different story.
Have this unit and is well worth the sound. Have powerd one to. With both of them sound's great together. Best sound u can get from two diesels, it's all about the base the base the base Boom boom
