What is this thing?

I was replacing a lamp in a CCII Sharknose that had burnt out and saw this sort of hanging by some wires. It was not fastened or zip tied in anyway, just connected to various other places on multiple circuit boards. Is it original or did someone add it?

It's the smoke voltage regulator and it's factory stock.
