I've been sorting through more of my late father's collection (I guess it should be considered mine now) to sell some things and help pay some of my mom's medical bills.  One of the considerations is that I want to keep the trains that have meaning to me and ones that I'll eventually be running or have in my collection.

This engine I thought was a complete 700e, but some things don't look to be what would have been part of an original 700e.  For one, the chassis looks at one time to have been replaced by a 773 one, probably from an original chassis warping.

Can anyone shed some light on this engine?  The cab number is the 700e one, looks to be original to the engine and not a decal (same for the tender's lettering, but the tender doesn't have the whistle, but has the scale coupler and "700T" on the trucks).

What do you think?  What kind of value does this engine have?

It’s a mutt for sure, but nothing wrong with that, ….looks like a 773 shell, or possibly a service dept. shell, and maybe a 763 frame & driver arrangement,…..the cab no. 5344 doesn’t look straight at all, so possibly rubber stamped individual digits, where someone did the old eyeball it trick, ……unsuccessfully though…….😉
