Ole 2026 by Lionel- my first engine.  I love the way it wobbles down the track, emitting perfect smoke rings.

Sorry I don't have pics right now.   It's a tie between my original PW Santa Fe 2383 F3 A-A, and the 2026 as shown above in TrainsRMe's post.  Both were running on the Christmas layout my dad started setting up in the early 60's for us.  They still run today.

 

It's funny how even with my TMCC, DCS, Legacy gear, I always come right back to my post war equipment.   I love the buzzing e-units, battery operated horns, the smell of smoke pellets, etc...

Well, I try to run all my stuff, but when company comes over, it's the 736 and the 681 that always get to come out to run. I know they will run for me with no problems.

Postwar 646 been on the layout for quite a while.  Ol' Reliable I calls it.

The PS2 sounds are incredible.

Williams by Bachmann Alaska RR GP38...  It's a good-looking engine, runs smoothly and quietly, and works every time.

Right now it is my new Rail King SD 60, which was originally a Premier product.

 

There is a lot of value in it at a cost of around $300.

 

It has PS3, LED lighting, smoke etc.

 

 

For me it is the Lionel legacy UP 4-12-2. It runs smooth, sounds great and people love it.

   Because of the power, remote control and incredible sound system the MTH DCS Pennsy Green GG1 is the go to runner, pulls 14 big Silver Pennsy Cars at an incredible clip, runs thru the big old Lionel 711 switches like they are not even there.

When MTH reproduced the Pennsy Green GG1 they did it correctly.

Our old go to is off line at the paint shops at the moment...our RMT Beep that was in rudolph Christmas colors...now its just been repainted black and grey in prep for some CB&Q blackbird decals.

I love em all, but right now the one I run the most is old RailKing 3985 I got that came to me pretty messed up. No smoke, modified lighting that didnt work. Overhauled the smoke unit, reworked the wiring...now has working ditch lights, lighted number boards, smokes like a chimney and runs like a champ and will pull anything. Wish the chuff was triggered, but that can be fixed later...

Depends of the day and my mood. But, my go-to locos are my Lionel PRR J-1 and my 3rd Rail PRR M-1b.

For me my Lionel legacy Chessie GP30. I bought this piece after years sitting on the shelf at a LHS. It has a broken smoke unit, but it still runs like a dream and sounds fantastic!

Oldies are goldies.

I rotate my Pre & Postwar steamers (Lionel & Marx) on #2&3, but usually I have 224E, and either 675 or 1666 running on the other tracks.

1960 Great Northern EP-5 Jet. My grandfather bought this for my father and now it's on my layout. Aside from the nostalgic factor, it's one handsome engine.
