Beings there is no new Lionchief steam engines in the last Lionel catalog I am wondering what steam will be offered maybe in the next catalog.
Will it be something new? A new model or will they just keep recycling post war molds.

Good question.
Between LionChief and LionChief Plus, it seems like Lionel has done every traditional-sized steam engine. I've seen Pacifics, Hudsons, Mikados, Berks, Camelbacks, and A5 Switchers in LC+ and Jr. Berks, Dockside Switchers, and the 4-4-0 General in LC. Given that LC and LC+ appear to be Lionel's products for the masses (not full scale modelers), it's hard to imagine what else they could or need to do.
Maybe the semi-scale 746??
I think the Lionmaster Hudson is the most attractive, non-articulated semi-scale engine Lionel has ever made. A thing of beauty for us semi-scale guys. It seems like this would be a great choice for Legacy or LC+, but I'm guessing it'd be too expensive for the mass market LC+ and not scale enough for Legacy.
So, long-winded answer, my guess is different road names of existing platforms.
I hope something of scale proportions (like the camelback), perhaps an Atlantic.
I would also like to see an Lion Chief Plus Atlantic or perhaps a small logging Mikado.
The Atlantic would be a good idea along with the a more detailed Hudson like the lionmaster version.

I wonder if Lionel has the mold for the K-Line semi-scale Hudson. Even though I already had a Lionmaster Hudson, a fellow forum member moving from semi-scale to full scale "made me an offer I couldn't refuse" on his K-Line semi-scale Hudson. Great looking engine worthy of LC+ if Lionel has the molds. Stock photos of both below.
How about a lioncheif j or even a lioncheif articulated? A 773 lion cheif?
There's lots of other engines they could do. I think the sound in their latest berkshire lc+ is outstanding for what it is.

I also thought of an LC+ 773, but then dismissed the idea because the 773 is a scale sized steamer or close to it, and LC+ tends to be baby Hudson or semi scale in size. Arnold
How about an LC+ H10 locomotive, or a 2-8-0 Consolidated? Not sure if new tooling for traditional sized versions of these locomotives would need to be created.

How about resurrecting the K-Line 1:58 scale Allegheny that they did in their Titan Series akin to Lionel's Lionmaster line? Semi-scale but articulated for semi-scale operators to run something big. I don't have space for an articulated but periodically look at this and the Class A that Lionel Lionmaster that Lionel re-made with Legacy.
