The God Father set. You can have a baggage car where a little man holding a Tommy gun closes the door then you see the lights flashing along with the sound of machine gun fire.
Northern Army civil war train. A General pulling a cannon car, passenger cars, horse car, all in blue US Army livery. Add some army figures, horses, tents and you have a nice little set.
Lionel actually did this back in 1999:
21900 for the Union set, 21901 for the Confederate set. Google them for more pictures. I agree they were pretty neat sets.
The Royal Blue. Only Royal Blue available to my knowledge is a Bachmann small scale unit.
How bout a set honoring Lionels quality control. You open up the box and theres already an RA form inside pre filled out so you can just send it back.
Or an MTH premier steam theme set? Open up the box and it's empty.
David
WOW, you guys are too funny, this is better than most comic acts. Seriously though I think Lionel is on to something the the SP merger set in the latest RTR catalog. Why not do several of these to show the heritage of the railroads. They could be based on the standard RTR engines (0-8-0) and don't have to be scale or prototypical, just representative with existing tooling and technology. It is railroad based and educational. They could start with basics and then do add-on cars for some of the more minor lines that where absorbed.
I aggree with the REA and mail sets too they would be cool.

I'm still laughing, I hope Lionel and MTH are reading this. We should be getting paid for all the ideas they are getting
I got another one, how about one based on the federal government. You could have a series of mint cars full of IOUs and passenger cars full of drunk perverted deadbeats who are all shouting at each other. The set would cost $400,000,000,000.00 and wound't work.
OK, I'm done now, sorry

How bout a secret service track gang set . It would come with a Rake, a Shovel and a Hoe

Both a fast mail train and a milk train would be terrific. I know Hornby of the UK sells a mail train set, and it's a big seller.
And we make a milk train set.
A jinty pulling some milk tankers and a brake van.
How about a model of the original Auto-Train?

For some reason, despite the incredible lameness of the movie, I've always enjoyed the "Theme From A Summer Place" as performed by Percy Faith's rockin' combo.
Pete
Lionel continue to churn out variations of the Hogwarts. Some time back they made the "Shakespeare Express" it's a beautiful set. Make it again Lionel, together with some other Hall class locos. They would be a huge hit.

Percy Faith, Pete, um well I guess a "Baby Elephant Walk" set. The Percy Faith Circus train, with a flat car with orchestra.
Rock N Roll Train: Give me a Grateful Dead Car along with Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, Allman Bro's Band, and Little Feat. Oh yeah - and one heck of a stocked bar car.
Paul
If we go that route, we might as well have a cocaine center flow hopper.
The street value of a Jumbo LO filled with slave dust would exceed the National Debt

What did Robin Williams say about Percy Faith? "They play that stuff for insomniacs that don't respond to strong drugs".

I agree that was a great set I have two. Instead of just redoing that set. I think an altered set is more likely. The Hall in lined British Rail black with the coaches in Blood and custard would look great. I would get two of those too....
I would love to see a well done (not toy grade) Golden Spike set celebrating the completion of the transcontinental railroad link, with both locomotives and representative rolling stock and equipment for each construction train.
Every image I found on the internet of this event seemed to be copyrighted so I will not post a picture.
Only if Lionel could make the set in the US like the K'nex toys.
How about an IT train? They could call it "The Tech Set." All flat cars and gondolas.
Each car's load would be different. Ipod, Cell Phone, Smart Phone, video game controller, mouse, ear buds, and a Wii shaped caboose.
I still like an OGR forum set. An NKP 765 Berkshire in the lead with a motley collection of cars each of which best represents a particular forum personality. I'm not sure who would get to be the caboose...

The NKP 765 for sure but when it comes to OGR there's really only one car that couldn't possibly be left out of the set. Natty Boh
As for the other 2 cars in the set one would have square wheels and the other would be the Planters car because half of us can't seem to get the car rolling and the other half are nuts. Me I like to think I'm in the latter category.

There wouldn't be a car big enough for the egos of some that have left forum by invitation...

*EXACTLY*
Railsounds would say, "Please continue to hold... Your call is *VERY* important to us... The current wait time is 16 hours 47 minutes... Please have your credit card ready..."
I like the idea of the Reading Ironhorse Ramble set. A T-1 with Legacy and 4 passenger cars with 2 add-on cars. Though unfortunately the type of passenger cars that should be used Lionel hasn't made. But would be a welcome new addition.
I believe Lionel is overdue to do another WWII type military train with an Army steam locomotive, flats with vehicle loads, tank car, hospital car, troop cars, etc. I realize they released a 027 set some years ago but I would like to see a new set with a Legacy locomotive pulling the Army consist. Then Lionel could do add on's after the set release.

The Gotham City monorail from Batman Begins would be cool.
I want to see some "Paul Bunyan" items to go with the new P. Bunyan Shay released last year. Lots of great ideas there -- log dumps, sawmill, animated cars, etc. They would make for a great logging camp operation on any layout!
I'll second the Back To The Future III set!
Nick
I always wonted a Command Control workers train. I mean a train where every car is operational and the cars and engine will take O-31 curves.
Crane car, helicopter car, camera car that works like the old K-Line model, auto parts unloader box car, the list can go on forever.
The set can start with engine with three cars and a work caboose. But, they can come out with a new add on car once a year. I say once a year because these cars will have to be Lou Caponi cool and that cost money.
It should all follow one color scheme though I have no particular plan in mind. For that matter "Electroliner's" REA idea would be cool.
What ever color they build it in it needs to be an eye catcher and work on everybodies layout, that's why I say O-31 turns is a must.

Well like I said How bout a secret service track gang set . It would come with a Rake, a Shovel and a Hoe.
I could see how they'd animate the rake and shovel but if it's for the secret service that last tool would have to be shipped in a plane brown wrapper with "21 and up" on the outside.
David
How about a MTH Chicago transit authority **** express just like the real one they use in Nov/Dec. Placement of the added lights and **** sounds would make this set ideal for both starter sets, as well as enjoyment for the Chicago CTA fans.

I want this train
Janis Joplin, The Dead, The Band, Buddy Guy and more in a cross country tour that traveled by train.

Yes I own the DVD and have been watching for a CN FA and some passenger cars with the noodle logo.
A Lionel set of Scale Box Cars with the greatest New York Yankees on the side,
led by a New York Central Hudson. The Caboose would have on it's side, 40
American League Pennants and 27 World Series Championships. Yes, that would
work for me. Good Topic.
Many thanks,
Billy C
What about a Pelham 123 set, based on the Travolta remake? Could you imagine the crewtalk?!!!
A Lionel set of Scale Box Cars with the greatest New York Yankees on the side<snip>
Oh great...I could use some target cars for this...
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Just kidding, of course. That would make a fine set. I've always liked the MTH SW9 cow and calf in MLB scheme...I've thought about picking it up, a few times.
The John Galt Line passenger train as appeared in Atlas Shrugged Part 1 (about 1-hr 7-min into the movie).
