I swear I saw something like this before but I can’t find it now. It’s an activation track of some sort. I don’t think it’s complete I can slide lever underneath and get track piece to come up. Thanks in advance!! Jeff

Prewar American Flyer O Gauge uncoupling section. A solenoid in the yellow box raises the area around the middle rail via a mechanical linkage, ultimately lifting the AF-style link couplers on adjacent cars. A manual version was also available.
Its a #675 American Flyer pre-war uncoupler.
A bit more detail on the 675. This uncoupler only works with the O gauge metal link couplers that Gilbert introduced in 1939 and used through 1941. These couplers are similar to the plastic link couplers Gilbert used on their 1946 through 1953 S gauge trains.
Thanks guys!!
I’m missing the bar that sticks up. I assume that’s what triggers it??
It is just a visual item so the location can be seen from a distance. The operator then knows precisely when to push the uncoupler button.
