Yesterday I disassembled my Lionel 239 2-4-2 scout steamer. Now I can't figure out were this one part goes does anyone have any idea on where it goes?

That is a "pawl". It has a spring that goes with it and it attaches on the left side of the motor near the armature. I have NO IDEA how to install it.

Its the rarer one too! It needed to be cleaned anyway.
I would not want to be the dude trying to put that back together. The only guy I know that can is Chuck Sartor. Good luck.

While not the most pleasant job, I've rebuilt a fair number of scout motors. Just be patient.

It has materials on servicing scouts, including the Lionel Factory service manaul suggestions on re-assembly. (about 1/2 way down the first page) While there are variations in the motors, they are all basically the same, and the material will help.
