Which MTH operating accessory had a bad gear, or kept breaking gears? gas station? or Mels diner?

Looking at getting parts for the future, and a friend of mine mentioned to me about getting the gears for the first batch of operating gas station or the first run of mels diner. I have the sinclair gas station ( I believe the first run) and I do remember having an issue with the gas station but it was a board issue. Does anyone know if it was either accessory or both?
