Which NS heritage unit will you buy?

I am in to legacy to but I was a mercer junction trains 2 weeks ago and mth closed the gap on the conrail es44 it was just a detailed as the Lionel's. even the trucks where lowered .

That's the kind of thing I am looking for, better detail, lesser gap. I will find out myself when I go to York. 

I wasn't worried about seeing them first as I knew I wanted the Lionel offerings.  My decision was to get two units.  Had originally thought I would get a Wabash and NKP, but that changed.  Ended up ordering the Norfolk Southern and the Interstate units.  After ordering, I was thrilled to see this photo online...

Pennsylvania  (5) stripe. ES44AC  It would look quite nice with my Pennsy E8's and Pennsy BP20's   Hummmmm needs Radiophone antenna.

Yea I was very surprised mth did step it up..My only complaint is the cap inside to cover the motor it  doesn't match the cabs..If I buy one that will be fixed. 

I'll be getting the LIONEL Lackawanna if it runs on O31, MTH if it doesn't.

I have a pre-order in at Barry's for a Reading Unit from mth.  Scheduled delivery is currently July..

Neither would most likely not run on o31. You would be better to buy the MTH RK imperial version of the engines.

I have mine preordered at Sommerfelds Buttler WI. for the Lionel Dreamcicle Interstate

I'm waiting for a Reading unit and will also buy a traditional NS unit to run with the Reading unit.

 

Although I currently run conventionally, since I currently have five non-Lionel engines with TMCC, I likely will upgrade the layout to TMCC when I redo the layout this Summer/Spring.  Thus, I will be buying Lionel heritage units instead of MTH.

I pre-ordered the Interstate, Norfolk Southern, New York Central and the Virginian from MTH (premier). I have already received the Norfolk Southern and it looks and runs great.

A MTH non-powered NKP (correct road number) to push my 765 Berk around.

Got the (nasty) Blue N&W along with the matching caboose on the way. I'd still like to know what the heck color of blue that is! It sure ain't Pevler Blue...

I pre-ordered the MTH NKP ES44. I'm looking forward to it! I'll have to see where my finances are and what the new catalog has but I also have my eyes on the upcoming Wabash SD70 ACE 

I'll probably lean towards the MTH model since most of my Norfolk Southern power is MTH, so I can M.U. them together.

I have the MTH NS heritage diesel SD-70 ACe for the Reading Lines on order with Train World, waiting for it to come in. Should be in May, I was told.

Was looking for a larger diesel than the SD-45, and now I found one for Reading Lines.

I pre-ordered MTH Premier versions of the N & W, and the Erie.  I'm contemplating the Conrail and Interstate engines but I'm sort of waiting to see what these first deliveries look like before slapping down any more money.

Saw the MTH versions today and was very disappointed. The engines were supposed to painted with satin sheen just like prototype but the first 3 have been released without it.

 

Lionel showed painted  shells of their SD70ACe's and they looked much better IMO.

If the MTH aren't in a satin finish, how would you describe their finish? Previous Lionel Diesels have been quite glossy.

I am waiting on a pre-order for the Lionel Conrail unit.

 

With the new catalog just released, I will order a Penn Central & Illinois Terminal aka. the Glow Worm

S&A, and VIR, In Williams.
