white foam board | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

my local hardware only sells the white foam board. it seems too flimsy to me. is it just to be used for mountains etc or can it be the base as well?

Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) Rigid Foam Insulation. Pink , blue even green sometimes. Can obtain it at Home Depo , Lowe's or other large home stores. From 1/2" to 2" thick and in 4X8 foot sheets.

If it's the white packing material and thinn insulation I'm thinking of I would not use it for my layout. Just my thoughts.

White styrofoam is available, I used it on my most recent Christmas layout build. 2" thick and it is cheeper than the pink or green stuff. Harder to find as well. Pic shown is how I roughed up and painted the edge to simulate a rock face around my layout.

this is the flimsy feeling styrofoam 1/2 inch board. I went with the blue instead from another place. can the white be used for hills etc?
