White Photo-Sound 8.4V Battery Replacement - Any Ni-Cad 9v Rechargeable?

Happy Holidays All,

A friend gifted me a never been run MTH RDC Budd Car Set #30-2233-1 w/ Proto Sound 2.0. I just pulled it out for this years Christmas tree set up.

It has the original white rechargeable battery and I'm aware of the issues of using an old battery so I won't put it on the tracks until safe to do so.

For the short term can I put in a Ni-Cad 9v Rechargeable Battery? I don't have time to get a BCR or the green MTH replacement battery before Christmas.
