Hey Dave..!
Like I might have mentioned before. I like'm a lil shinier, or is it shineyer, ?!! lol.
The Lionels are a "just outta the paint booth" gloss! Nice! The MTH are better smokers and better sound set, as long as you like your sounds without bass. The Lionel GEVOs rumble awesome. And I like it bassier, or is it bassyer, ??!! Have seen a few random and wrong road numbers for Lionel ones too. Heads up for you shoppers.
My 2sense,
Doug
My heritage units smoke great.
Lionel made powered units in two road numbers, one correct and the other not and a non-powered unit Also has the wrong number.
All of mine have the correct prototypical numbers.
MTH used the wrong phase of the locomotives with the nose doors and the grab irons on the wrong side And a few other detail miscues. But it does not take away from the good job MTH did on the paint scheme except for two of them. I just could not get pass the detail errors.
The shiny paint scheme of the Lionel versions look great to me but others have different opinions.
Only purchased the Lionel NKP NS Heritage unit to lash-up with the 765 Berk.
Would have purchased several of the MTH ones but, they did NOT get the ES44's correct or the paint on the Savannah & Atlanta unit correct.

I have an MTH Railking Virginian. One of my favorites.

I have 4 MTH Premier NS Heritage Engines consisting of Southern, Norfolk & Western, Wabash, and Central of Georgia (all powered). I also have MTH Premier Southern SD70ace fantasy scheme (tuxedo scheme). I have one more powered unit that I need to purchase (Savannah and Atlanta). The other 16 NS Heritage units I'm going to purchase as non-powered engines. Here are some pictures.
Be aware ROGERW that MTH got the paint scheme wrong on the savanna and Atlanta.
david1, I'm aware of the paint scheme. Thanks!!!
Nice stuff David.
I try to restrict my RR to art deco era stuff, but did get enticed by a couple of these. And there are a couple more that I wish I had gotten. I'll get them in due course.
