I am married to the train whammy queen. When she walks in the room, there usually is a derailment or an electrical short. It's uncanny. She can appreciate my enthusiasm for model trains but doesn't get it at all, so I keep valuable and breakable stuff away from anyone who doesn't get it. Better safe than sorry.  I hope you get it fixed up.

I do not have a heating station, for those that made the bet.  I'm going to leave the running board as it's cracked where it meets the boiler already, so I know if I try anything It'll just make it worse.  Even my buddy at work said I should just get some rust paint and make it up to look like it hit something.  This won't be my 1st (And willing to bet not the last.) locomotive to run around the layout with battle scars.

I'm currently building the layout, so it normally wouldn't be there, but I was doing testing.  She thought she had more room, but the box turned out to be longer then she thought.  After picking up the pieces, I did spend the rest of the evening with her to make sure she was okay.  She was sorry.

We don't have a garage, and being in AZ, the attic is near 200 degrees, so items that'd normally go in either of those places are under the train layout.  That was the deal, I could build it if I made it high enough to put stuff under.  She was trying to find school supplies for my oldest as he just started Jr. High.  This happened on the side that's only 18" from the wall, so she didn't have a lot of room to begin with.  And I can't keep people or cats out of the train room as it's the only way into the backyard, and also the washer and dryer.

As for the 1st train item, it was a K-Line PRR bay window caboose.  I had it on a book shelf and she was trying to get a book out from behind it and bumped the caboose.  A search will find the post about it with a photo of the damage.

In the end, they are just toys, and to me my relationships with people are far more important and valuable then any silly toys.

As for a wife, companion.... I must say when it comes to trains, I have the best.  We met on Amtrak... TWICE....     Once on the way down to Houston (me on in Chicago, her St. Louis), and then.... on SAME train going back North a week later.  Thing is, we both had plans to stay longer with relatives, but, due to changes, had to leave earlier than planned.  We talked all night heading North and kept in touch.  Short story, we wed on Dec. 27th, 2006.  Have never been happier in my life !!    Then, when she added on the three car garage in 2008 (I was working in Terre Haute), she had a train room built on top of the garage for me.  So, I have a 28ft X 38ft upstairs for our 24ft X 28ft layout.  Also, she found out about G gauge trains at the OKC Train show in 2006 and has her own she has picked out that we run around Christmas, along with the O Gauge on the living room floor.       She is a keeper, no doubt !!

Wow- what a great companion! Does she have a sister?

I was running my new Lionel 5100 Rock Island northern I had just won on eBay on my still open grid layout 43" from the carpeted floor. My very active Border Collie was jumping up at it and dumb me, I didn't think he could reach it.

Broke off a marker light, pulled out the trailing truck screw, all the wheels on the tender were out, and the SOS never worked again.
