I have an older TIU that has the serial port instead of the usb connection. I'm trying to get my new WiFi unit connected to it. I have the adapter cable and as soon as I inset the usb connector to the WiFi unit the purple TIU light starts flashing. When I connect the serial end to the TIU the light keeps flashing. It doesn't appear that the two units are connecting to each other. The TIU still works with the hand held control and the WiFi signal is reaching my iPad. Is there something I need to do to the TIU to make the WiFi recognize it? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you sure the USB>serial cable works? Can you use it to connect a PC with the TIU? I have used the wifi with an ancient Rev G TIU and it worked flawlessly.
The cable is brand new. I have a lap top that I connected to the TIU with it but there is no indication that the lap top is seeing it. I'm curious as to why the purple light in the WiFi unit starts blinking as soon as the USB connector is inserted.
The cable was the problem. Replaced it with another and now everything work. Even have both of my WiFi units networked together. Thanks for the help RJR
You're welcome. As to why the light started blinking, I can only say that there must be some circuitry in the cable that communicates. When I plug the cable into my computers, even though nothing is connected to the serial end, the computer gives the "USB recognized" double chirp.
