Will An MTH PS-1 Board Electronics With An Engine With No Smoke Work On a PS-1 Engine With Smoke?

The smoke has no connection to the board it runs directly from track power with a PS/1 locomotive.  The answer is obviously yes.

Thanks for the reply.  I am looking for a functional donor board to install on an FP-45 to run on our club layout.  What functions do the chips from the PS-1 locos control?

The PS/1 board controls the movement, sound, couplers, and directional lights.  The smoke on PS/1 was apparently an afterthought as it just connects directly to track power and has a manual switch.  It runs continuously for steam or diesel for PS/1 locomotives.
