Has anyone tried to upgrade one of these to a 'real' smoke unit? The Suethe smoker is not doing it for me...

Yes I have upgraded to a lionel fan type smoke unit. It runs full fan all the time and is much better than the Williams unit. I bought mine from Modern Train Parts. You will have to make supports but it is not difficult. Lenny J
I've upgraded a bunch of locomotives to fan driven smoke, and I stick in synchronized chuffing with the sound and smoke while I'm at it.
Have you seen my Super-Chuffer?
I use MTH smoke units in many upgrades, they're smaller than the Lionel units as a rule, and I don't need any fan power with the Super-Chuffer as it provides the fan power.
