Is the current production Williams die cast day light close to scale? How are the details? The die cast one with true blast 2. Also would TMCC, cruise, and railsounds work in it? Would the chuffing work with a fan driven smoke unit? I'm thinking of getting one and sending it to a dealer for converting it to TMCC. Your feedback is greatly appreciated

Liam,
It's not scale. The older brass version was full scale. The current diecast one is about the same size as the postwar Lionel 746 Norfolk and Western 4-8-4 or the 736 Berkshire.
It's a great runner and an excellent candidate for TMCC with an ERR Co. cruise. I'm not sure about the options for synchronized smoke.
Looks great with 60' size (15") passenger cars.

Liam,
As Jim posted, it's not scale--and it bears only a resemblance to a GS model.
The pilot is wrong (straight under the boiler's face) and not raked, and the railings running down to the pilot are right off their J model and are unlike the railings on a GS locomotive.
The Railking Imperial is a much better approximation of a non-scale GS, even though the open cab and twin headlights (which it shares with the Williams) are innacurate for any GS.

Thanks Jim and cab calloway, I'll be on the lookout for an the Williams or MTH imperial one but if I can't find one I will get the Williams they both look very nice I have plenty of time to look around. I have the Williams 746 and now when I look at the 746 compared to the gs4s photo they do look identical. By the way Cab Calloway does the MTH imperial one have PS2?
Thanks, Liam
It is a sub-scale fair emulation of the N&W J-class 4-8-4's with an SP smokebox front
and a PRR tender. It is not a "good model" - but it's a nice toy loco, and that may be
all you're looking for.
