I used OGR wire. #14 from TIU to an MTH terminal block and #16 from the term block to all the track feeders. Everything works very well.
It all depends on current draw. If you are running conventional (Older Trains) that draw a great deal of current and your running passenger cars with original lighting you could see the insulation dripping of High Gauge wire i.e. 18 or 20 AWG. Different arrangements like using blocking could reduce the current draw.
