Lee,
Try two cams, one under each end to give a more galloping effect.
Those rides were real popular in the Early 60’s, in my neck of the woods.
I used to saddle up in front of Woolworth’s whenever I had a spare Dime, or my Mom with me. ..lol
Our local Grocery Store had the Rocket Ship, and I never cared to much for that one.
One thin dime was all you needed.
Anyhow, nice work…. You’re a real credit to the Hobby and a Pretty Cool Guy!!
Thanks Lee,

Some only went up and down, as I remember. There was one with a single big post at each end that had more of a rocking motion and less of an up and down move to it, but if I recall the ones with four straight posts, as this one has, went straight up and down. I actually liked those best when I was a kid.
You are unbelievably talented. That is really neat.
Way cool. I remember the ones like this too.

Afraid the kid is going to puke?
I remember riding the one in front of the Weis market on North George street back home in York, Pa. Very cool indeed. Thank you for the memories.
Mark
Looks great and brings back childhood memories too! Great job!

Yep Lee, that definitely qualifies as cool! A little eccentric, but definitely cool!
You get an A+ for that one Lee.
Lee, you have given me no choose but to block all further posts from you. This week my grandsons installed this market. Shopping cart, baby in wagon and a small fruit stand. Now you come along and post this. I am going to tell them that you were arrested by the skill police and will no longer be able to post. neat job !!!!!!!!!
Those were the days.......!
Thanks for the memories.

I think my baby brother got dizzy and nearly did the first time he rode the rocking one that rocked back and forth too. My Mom was all upset about it, but he was just to young to ride it.
Who knew that this ride was a prelude to riding broncos at bars.

I've often wondered in John Travolta rode one of these when he was younger.
Lee,
Nice going, you continue to amaze!

Very good. Was wondering when some talented person would do this. (Way above my pay grade, I would just screw it up (No artistic talent))
Lee I missed your post but thanks to
Thanks sp2207. I missed this link. That is so cool!
And the NEXT book will be...
I like that!
I knew it........... When I saw your original post on the IGA store, aside from wanting one, I thought well I'll bet money Lee will animate that horse ride. Well done. I remember the single post models from when my kids were little. It seams to me the horse went in kinda of a circular motion or may be more oval, Up, Forward, Down, and Back. But it's been too many years. Again very nice. Cant wait to see the finished store.
Lee,
Thinking about it a little more, the rocking motion could be done with the single cam and a single teeter-totter.
Your talent is matched only by your imagination!
Very clever, Is that power by a AC hook up to the motor. I was wondering what was making the humming sound. I had some Lionel accessories that hummed like that and I got them to quite down by using DC current.
It's running on 12 VDC. The noise is a gearbox for 20 RPM rotation.
Lee,
Have you figured out a way to put a coin machine in the edge of your layout so that when the kids come over they can slip a quarter in the slot and watch the horse run?

And guess who would supply the quarters for the kids?
