You can add utility and prototypicality to a pre or postwar tin Pulllman observation, too!  Best part is, the proceedure can be reversed if desired!

The patient (hereafter known as the "Jerry Colonna"; "Ah YES!  Something NEW has been added!"), prior to the operation.

Two discreet Dremel cuts in the rear skirting.

The resulting flap is folded neatly out of the way.  To reverse the procedure, just bend the flap back into place and fill in the cuts with body putty or the like. Note that the coupler has already been installed on the truck,

We should all do as we please with our trains.

 

A modification such as this is not for me because I don't see how it is reversible. Once those cuts are made, they are there forever, filling them with body putty doesn't undo the cuts, it only hides them.

 

Lionel published instructions to do similar things to prewar cars to convert them from latch or box couplers to postwar knuckle couplers.
