Routes made me nuts.
Just got a new CC 990 and 1 Fastrack Right Hand CC Switch and 1 Fastrack Left Hand CC Switch. Thr 990 was manufactured in 2015 and has version 1.52 in the base and remote. Did have an issue with the Right Hand switch causing the tender of my AC9 to derail but got around that.
So far, the remote and base and switches functioned good. Not to leave well enough alone, I decided to program the remote with 2 routes using the new switches - an inner oval and an outer oval - nothing complicated. Used the 990 manual to do this. Per the multitude of info on this forum regarding Command Control and Fastrack Switches, I got a lot of info. Set the switch throw time to 1 second.
Using the remote, I built 2 routes containing the 2 switches. I numbered the first route as 1 and the second route as 2. The first switch numbered 1 and the second numbered 2.
Now for the mystery, sometimes the first switch in a route list would not throw but the 2nd one always would. Finally, after much experimenting, I found that re-numbering the routes as 10 and 11 produced consistent switch throws - go figure. Issue resolved.
I even changed the throw rates from Instant thru 1.25 and the switches in the routes worked consistently. Who knew. Maybe a software issue with release 1.52 else I missed something in the manual.
What didn't work: Reloading the remote and base from the blue memory modules; taking apart the 1st switch and rerouting its antenna better; attaching the ground wire from the base to a separate track from the ground from the transformer; setting the throw rates from .75 thru 2 seconds; re-routing all Christmas lighting away from the first switch.
