I didn't know my yard lead switch was thrown and my Allegheny pulling 35 coal hoppers high balled into my yard.

Oops....at least it was a model train and not the real thing... Did you remember where the "HALT" button is? I never do and go into panic mode.
I sure hope you meant quit running for the day, and not for good! Did you get 'er stopped in time to avoid a collision?
Nick it's never time to quit running trains. Unless you are sitting there and fall asleep and your head hits the tracks. It wakes you up and you decide to shut everything down and go upstairs. You go into the bathroom to brush your teeth for the night and when you look in the mirror as you start to brush and there are three lines on your forehead from the dirt on the tracks. LOL yea guys I just meant for the day lol

And here I thought it was when the smoke set the smoke detectors off!
I did that at a Train show, Had four track mainline with four trains running,
(and I run em fast and furious), one of the inside loops jumped the track, and before I could recognize it, it took out two other trains. It was a total train wreck.
Some kids were standing there when it happened and one of them yelled.
"do it again mister"

That's why I have a master switch on the layout, when I panic I can't find the button on the remote.
I purposefully run my trains going AGAINST the siding/yard switches just to avoid this inevitable Casey Jones nightmare.

Most kids do!!
they also like em running fast.
Good thing you didn't cause any damage! Glad everything was ok.
Haven't run into the yard yet, but did rear end a train parked on the siding. Forgot to switch back to the main after parking. While showing my grandson which switch button did what, I changed my cross over switch positions while a train was right in the middle of the cross over. Half the train went on the outer track and the other half went on the inner track. I hit the panic button and he thought it was hilarious!
