Your layout's present condition?

Finalizing layout plan and will be starting the benchwork this fall.

Layouts been on hiatus since early spring. Will be uncovering it and getting it ready for Christmas in the next few weeks. Also in the planning stages of a new build.

Finished, except for maintenance and continuing to add small details, like fire plugs, etc..

Mine unfortunately is in a total state of disrepair and neglect.  Looking more like an abandoned spur, than a mainline.

Slowly selling off collection and will eventually tear down the layout and sell off the good Ross track and switches.

Steve:  Sounds like you are leaving the hobby.  Have  you lost interest?

My layout?  Lets see... moved to a smaller house, no room.  had tables (homasote on plywood) on open trailer ready to go into storage, and boom! downpouring rain.  thay are now fine.

Up and running. Club was here just a few weeks ago. A couple of minor issues but nothing that spoiled the fun.

Will come out as a carpet-central (actually a carpet-perimeter) for the holidays.

Operating.  A year from now?  Ideally, in a new house with a gigantic train room...but probably I'll be right where I am now.

Building a new layout, started a couple weeks ago. Will have operating trains by the weekend, gotta play a little while still building. In a year will still be building and probably modifying and hopefully expanding what I have now.

The Genesee Valley and Lake Ontario layout is up and fully operational.  Just had someone over yesterday to check it out and run some of the accessories.

Currently planning a future (6 months - 2 year timeframe) layout in a newly purchased (all of 2 weeks ago) "retirement" log home in the NY Finger Lakes area.  Needless to say, a large, dry, Superior wall basement with 9 foot ceilings was a requirement for the new place.  Can't wait to work on that, with a great deal of assistance of my wife and two married sons, and probably 1 or 2 of the grandkids.

Under construction.  Plywood, homasote and saw dust everywhere.  What a mess.  Fortunately the other layout is quite presentable although there is a 12 volt short I can't find.

Indoor layout non existent except for the traditional carpet central Christmas display. I hope to begin planning an outdoor 0 gauge layout soon.

When volts are "short" they are extremely hard to find.  Taller ones can't hide so easily.  

It's a mess! Mountain is half plastered, track hasn't been screwed to Quiet Brace, wiring is temporary, the room needs vacuuming and there is stuff everywhere. I'm a pig!!

Planning to take my layout down after Christmas.  Will take the shelves down off the walls, paint, and put up a backdrop.  Then will start putting up bench work Once I have finalized a track plan.

Always operational and 100% covered with scenery. Doesn't mean Im done with the scenery. Always presentable to guest's.

I have a small operating  trolley layout which I plan to expand to the edges of the existing table once the good weather is gone. A train layout (maybe 10 x 6) is planned pending a move and more space.

 Layout is pretty much cluttered with children's furniture & STUFF. Can't get underneath layout for STUFF. All I can do is run my trains, thank goodness. Can't do any  work on layout till they get moved out. Furniture and STUFF under layout & around  room. UUGH!!!!! Hope it isn't long.  Tom

It's funny how it's "stuff" unless it's yours.  That's how I feel too.  

I'm like Clem K - Essentially finished unless an idea comes along, and ready to go at a moment's notice.  It could usually use a dusting though.

First level tracks layed & all feeds to both loops are done,next scenery for first level.

Little done since last spring. About 2/3 of the track, much of the wiring but no real scenery yet, just a couple of buildings siting in place.

Really got to get back to it. What amazes me is that every couple of months I run a train without problems (and without doing any track cleaning). Can't beat tubular track and conventional control

My layout is boxed and lives in a place similar to this...

Not very fun.

Under construction.....but the 2 subway lines and the 2 main level lines are available for loop running.

The layout is done and operating.  Will always be looking to make minor changes or add new accessories.

Possibly all buildings have been purchased, one remaining to be built.

There are no plans (currently) for operating assessories

Scenery is next...

Mine is under construction and has ben for 6 years now. I doubt that it will ever be "finished" as I am having too much fun running trains and moving structures and scenes around.  Working on the layout is a part of the hobby that I really enjoy.  What a sad day it would be if it ever were "finished".

A work in progress.  Always...  I am currently adding a major redo of the West end of the layout.  I am adding a Skyscraper city scene.  This required an additional 12 sq. ft. addition and a complete redo of the track on that side.  So it in only operational in certain areas.  I expect to be finished in the next few weeks.

In addition I am continually upgrading my scenery with many of the techniques I have learned here.  That includes working to become more scale in appearance such as lighting and building sizes. 

It is hard for me to foresee the day when I would say it is done.  There is always something I would like to buy, enhance or build. 

Uh, which one. Actually I don't have a layout just a bunch of small displays scattered around. All are operational but none will ever be complete until I tear them down and replace them with something else. 14 displays in six years some have come some have gone and their are still some that are just glimmers in my eyes.

My layout has been operational for several years and am in the process of beginning to finish major scenic areas.  I am also adding sidings and industries to enhance the switching operations.  While it will never be totally finished, I am on a major push to raise the level of scenery that is completed.

My layout is about half operational, and actively under construction. My goal is to have all the track laid ASAP. It is looking like the end of winter.

My layout is under construction. Its been  for a couple of years. I am pulling wire at this time. and 95% of track is in place. For you guys that have been keeping an eye on things with me.

Under construction. Room built, bench work done, control panel built, 50% of the track laid, bridges (2) across the stairwell set, 0% track wiring. Nothing running, yet

My layout is operational once I clear the clutter that accumulated over the summer. Take about an hour.

What's Scenery? 

The layout is currently a mess! I tore out a major section to rebuild. Bench work is done, I'm now planning where to lay track.  Did some welding tonight on the bridge that will connect to the new table.  I'm getting a little frustrated with myself since only one of my 4 loops is up and running.
