I'm looking for parts for a Lionel 259E, ready to buy a junk loco if it has the parts I need.  These are

- headlight casting,

- a main rod with crosshead,

- eccentric crankpins and spaces (2),
- pilot truck and
- trailing.truck

From reference sources that I have, it appears that the 257 and 258 had the same parts.  Can anyone tell me if this is correct.

257 & early 258 shared many parts. Late 258 & 259 shared many parts. Many replacement trim parts are available from The Train Tender and probably Hennings. See attached parts lists.

with all those parts, probably cheaper to buy a junker on ebay,  your local train show, or place an ad in the "want to buy" section. Check out this link to see the upcoming shows in the MA area, http://netca.org/events.html. I've sold a number of those engines in the last couple of years, and even ones in running condition are going for about $40 these days, parts only but complete engines in the $10-$20 range.  Good luck.
