ZW transformer. Loose right hand side handle/slider | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi all,

I have a ZW transformer where the right hand 2 rheostats are really loose. The left side is fine but both the right handle and right accessory slider are really loose to the point that moving the right handle can cause adjustment to the right hand accessory slider. Is there anything I can do to tighten up the two right hand handle/slider dials?

Just to clarify, you're describing a modern ZW with the power bricks?

There is a tension spring on the handle shaft assembly that usually keeps the handles tight and not interfering with each other. The spring may be worn out or weakened by heat. That's a ZW repair that I myself would out-source to a repair guy (I know my limitations) but I suspect you will get more responses today. It may be an easier job than it looks.

To clarify, this is a postwar ZW. I will have to investigate the tension spring. It may be shot or missing.

Here's the ZW Service Manual pages, that will probably help. I've had these apart, but they can be a bit of a PITA to get it all back together.
