It won't reverse using my CAB-2 but will using my CAB-1. Once it is in reverse via CAB-1, it won't go forward with CAB-2. The engine will stop when I apply the CAB-2 brake/reverse switch but it will not change directions. I re-set the engine as per manual to no avail. Everything else seems to work okay with the CAB-2. Any ideas Gals and Guys? I will thank all of you now for your replies.

I'm assuming you already know this but thats a multi-function switch, you roll it up for boost, roll it down for brake and push it straight in(firmly) from the center till you hear a click, then the direction will change.
If your pushing it in and the direction isn't changing my guess is the switch is faulty since the loco responds normally with a cab1.
RickO, I thought I was doing it that way, but I better try it again. When things don't work right away I have a tendency to think the worst and not go through the correct procedures.
RickO, I just got finished trying reverse with my CAB-2 on another Legacy engine and a TMCC engine. Neither worked, so I'm going to assume it is the switch on the CAB-2. Is this an easy fix or do I need to send the CAB-2 to a Lionel repair shop?
Paul with the locomotive stopped try spinning the throttle rapidly counter-clockwise. What happens?
Charlie AKA MichRR714, I'm sorry I took so long to get back to you. That was a fantastic suggestion! My reverse button on my CAB-2 works great now. How did you learn that trick? It definitely needs to be shared with all that have a CAB-2. Thank you very much for your help. MilwRdPaul
Paul, there is a feature within Legacy that allows that rapid throttle movement to change the direction of your locomotive. I'm not sure why that affected your reverse button, But I'm glad your up and working again

So are you saying once you got the engine to reverse by spinning the red wheel, the push button started to work?
Chris, I took Charlie's advice and spun the throttle rapidly counterclockwise. I then hit the reverse button and the engine went into reverse and started moving. I hit the button again and the engine started forward! I am amazed as much as you are that it worked. I thank Charlie again for his help. Ask him for the details. MilwRdPaul
Odd because the two really aren't related, spinning the knob is just a different way to reverse. You don't need to hit the button after spinning the knob to get it to reverse, just spinning the knob does the trick

Maybe hitting the button wasn't necessary but I can't reenact what I did. If it, and I hope it doesn't, comes up again, I will try to remember not to hit the button but just to reverse spin the throttle.
