Lafondue, it is surprising to see these pictures on this forum. The pictures made on a white ground with a light gray background were made on my workbench at work. The photographer - Urs Nötzli - is a friend of mine and took the pictures with permission of me and also permission to publish them. Yes, there are four new reefer (three for beer and one for spices) and four new gondolas. Not in the pictures are four new tankcars and four new boxcars. We are now just reviewing the Swiss versions of the new cars so all the painting and lettering is going to be correct.

Regards, Stefan

It must be time for an updated version of the Italian E444 class 'Tartaruga'.    I have the Rivarossi version but those models are now 30 years old, and one with two motors would be ideal to haul the sleeping cars from the CIWL coach sets.

And as MTH have the French OCEM carriages in their catalogue, I think a SNCF electric loco would be a great addition to the range, like this one produced by Hornby of France about forty years ago.    A great classic, and it is short so there shouldn't be too many issues with track radius.

Lafondue, yes we will have most of the new MTH releases at our booth in Burgdorf. Just finished preparing everything.
We will not have much of our stuff on display, but what we have is high-end quality! We will have one of our SBB Ae 3/6
I in green on display of which we have only three left in stock and our new run of the orange RIC WRm "Eurofima" dining
car which we are about to finish soon. The TEE version will fallow right after. We also have some new "Brawa" air-slide
hoppers and gondolas for sale. Of corse, we will sell a few of our spare/replacement parts too.
Terrence L, the
colorful cars you are refering to are not passenger cars, but reefer cars. Yes, these cars are small indeed small. They
do not hold passengers but lots of bottles of beer or other goods that needed to be cooled while transporting from A to B.
Barrister2u, ken_vs_ryu, Rigatoni Express Railroad and CNJ 3676, in my opinion, it is not likely that MTH will enter
either the 1/32 market or will make a TGV any time soon. The 0 scale in italy is very small if there is one at all, so
it is also not likely either that MTH will make italian prototypes either. I'm sorry guys but this is just my opinion
based on my knowledge about the european 0 scale market.

Lafondue,

I have also wondered who owns the old Lima and Rivarossi tooling.   Like you, my best guess is that Hornby International have them.

I haven’t been into modelling Continental railways for very long.   I bought the CIWL sets, and the more I looked into the international scene, the more I liked it.   I bought a second-hand Rivarossi E444 last October, and saw another in December that I didn’t get time to buy, as I was officiating at the show and that was manic.   There is a plentiful supply of Lima UIC Coaches about in most liveries, but I now want some of the scale-length variety that Rivarossi used to make.

Joe,

Obviously I don’t know how much you are into Italian railways, but during summer 2011, Arenaways operated the s’Hertogenbosch (Netherlands) to Livorno (Italy) NS Autolaap service with leased SBB Cargo locos.   Prototype practice following modellers licence, perhaps.

Not my image to post but this is a link to their Traxx E483 loco, as featured in the gallery.   Now that would be nice!

And I shouldn’t think MTH would ever do it, but the private Italian railway company InRail have two Taurus locos in their own livery.  They are the equivalent of the ÖBB class 1216.

They have a website, in English, at

http://www.inrail.it/

There are possibilities.   What we need is for MTH to start selling undecorated versions as other manufacturers do already.
