AMCDave,

Here are the dimensions I gathered.

10-3/4" L (hopper only), 12" L (coupler to coupler)
3-1/4" H (including coal) measured from rail
2-3/8" W

Milwaukee Road open hoppers were freight car red. Not yellow, not orange. Covered hoppers were yellow or gray. Nothing wrong with painting a toy coal hopper yellow if you want to, but the only authentic Milwaukee Road color for a scale model is boxcar red. As a side note, the Milwaukee frequently used gondolas for coal, gravel, or other loads that most railroads carried in hoppers.

Milwaukee Road hopper - Yellow

While I am more familiar with the Yellow paint scheme, I can also recall the Orange scheme.

Looks like the Milwaukee Road PS2 from the site of the Pullman Standard factory in Butler, Pennsylvania where they were made.  I live about 2 miles from the site.  I bought one on eBay last year but I forget the manufacturer.  Unfortunately the seller sent me the wrong car, I opened an eBay case, and was refunded my money; but I did not get the car.2014-08-27 18.31.05
