A hot spot for cold treats: Liam’s Frozen Custard Stand

Shop Now >

You’ve had a hot day fishing at the lake. You’re heading home with the windows down and in the distance, you see a mirage. No, not a mirage but a welcome sign to pull the car over and get a tasty treat for the last 30 miles home: Liam’s Frozen Custard! Liam’s Custard is just what your train town needs to get through a hot summer!

The building has a compact 8-7/8" by 6" footprint. The structure rests on a concrete pad. The building has a textured brick exterior on three sides and a tar-paper roof with HVAC equipment installed.

A stylish overhang protects customers from the rain, and when powered up, provides a soft fluorescent-style illumination. Three sides of the shop have service windows for hungry customers - one for autos and the other three for walk-up customers. A beautifully painted, officially licensed 1:48 scale Dodge® Sweptside is included with the O scale version.

The interior features a black and white floor design. A clerk stands near the front, and behind him are custard and slushy-making equipment. Window signage includes announcements for cone prices, help wanted, gift certificates, and of course, a summertime fave, icy cold lemonade!

Add-on details include two safety bumpers in front, two adults, two children, and a pair of red and white trash cans. The rear of the lot has a splash of grass and a green tree in the center, and on the front curb, a large ice cream cone to bring in the crowd.

Should have been a soft serve Scrapple stand instead.

Scrapple? I can deliver some: for you :

If Liam's were a scrapple stand, I would definitely buy one! Or if it had easily changeable signage.

EDIT: Hmmm, I think that I just might be able to "change" the sign; GENUINE £IAM'S SCRAPPLE

Thank you for the suggestion.

Scrapple!!  I am from Cincinnati- and we have Goetta, similar but not the same as Scrapple. Other Cincy favorites are Graeter's Ice Cream, and Skyline Chili.  PA ain't got not nothin on us!

Last week I went to Dixie Union Station, a train store in Mason, OH, North of Cincinnati.  Pretty much 100% O Scale/ Gauge.  I bought a Graeter's Wooden Billboard Reefer, and ordered a Skyline Chili Bump and Go Trolley, both MTH custom runs for the store.  This is the best train store I have been in for a LONG time.

Looks to be modeled after Leon's in Milwaukee, WI. Which makes sense with Menards being HQ right here in WI.

I have been to Leon’s when visiting my uncle in Milwaukee. And the Menards building looks just like it. It will find a home on our layout.

The ice cream was outstanding on a hot steamy night!
